Why foreigners want to marry American citizen?

In college, a guy from Thailand or wherever offered me livestock in exchange for my hand in marriage.

This made me laugh. You coulda had it all! Now look atcha. :P

This article interested me. Although to be honest: the nail on the head. =)
Not all immigrants want to America! And they want to get out of their poor living conditions, where they were born. Do you agree, Americans and citizens of other developed countries if the person was born in a poor family and can count on the best conditions! If a person has only one life! Not only are they and America itself is guilty! WHY?
True, America undresses before the world. especially third countries! For example: branded items like Coca Cola, American Dream, the American standard of living; American films. In short, the powerful American propaganda. You know that in other countries, most often occurs on the green card lottery. American office stationed in third countries, such as Embassy, through them, there is a program in the lottery for a green card.
And besides there is another side to the coin.
There are from people who have their negative character and morals. For example scammers liars and so on ... From these people spoil the relationship with you. You become the injured party. Does not mean all the bad people! You're wrong! My friend deaf scientist who works in a clinic in America, he is a biochemist. The immigrant 90s! He is now married to an American! live happily ever after! Why he left his home country? In the country where he was born, is not claimed as a specialist, which he was able to work in that direction.
That's not all! How do you Americans know that the Russian people and Ukrainians beautiful people! They know how to cook a real soup! They are active people. Because of this, many Americans are looking for their social networking or dating service. Americans are eager to meet these people. This is true.
Judge not, that ye be not judged. =)

I'm sorry, but I got to the part about people from Russia and the Ukraine being able to cook real soup......and I busted up laughing.

Then of course I though about The Soup Nazi "no soup for you!!!" And I laughed more.

Honestly though this question seems a bit rhetorical.......

Two main things the US offers: economic opportunity and freedom from religious oppression.
These are very attractive features and why wouldn't someone want these?
Pretty nice bonus with a critter you can get about anywhere else.

To be international spies...too bad the US isn't like Hollywood. I'd be a spy! :D

And the Italians? Are actively sought throughout the territory of the United States, but not to get married ....:D

I can speak for myself and because I'm not American I was born in South Africa, I wouldn't get married for a visa I would rather go through the channels needed to become a citizen

I noticed many Americans married Asian and European women. :dunno:

I was going to say that, too. Also it is more for Asian and Russian women seeking for marriage looking for American husbands. **shaking my head** That is sad. :(

There are a lot of super nice American women. I usually managed to bring out the worst in them. If I was to put sticking my head into an energized snow blower auger or being married to one of them on a scale it would teeter one way and then the other. I do not mean that in a mean way it is just kind of the way it all came about. I feel bad that I managed to make it into that kind of comparison. I place all the blame on myself.
The good news is there are other choices ... smiles...

Foreigners want to marry Americans? Really? I don't know... I'm considered a "foreigner" because of my dual citizenship to Romania and I never considered marrying someone simply because they were American. :dunno2: I have many friends in Romania who wouldn't consider that as an option either... I thought that was just an over-exaggeration honestly. (About all the foreigners wanting to marry Americans) Because it is INCREDIBLY hard to secure citizenship even getting married to one. It's not like you marry an American and plop in your lap is your citizenship! Sometimes they still don't get citizenship even after marrying!

Yes, it is. many people think marriages of convenience only to emigrate, not for true love ... but this also happens in other places.
In fact, if you notice my joke above, it was very ironic on this aspect of convenience ...

Hello and I think you're a rare person - based on my life. I worked in the computer field for many years. I saw it happen frequently. In my last job, a young woman from India "G" was married to "B." B was an American. It was obvious how she treated him she married him to become a citizen. I personally found it icky. It was deceitful. I understand it but I guess I saw her using other people for personal gain and it was just not nice.

I understand wanting to leave a country (but I'm not sure America is the right one :) - I would like to leave). But the ethics... It gets hard to judge. Especially when I watch Mexicans put their lives at stake in so many ways to get here. It's pretty sad.

Kudos to you and I wish you the very best. I wish you could teach me the citizenship test. I'd likely flunk it.
