    SSI/SSDI benefits

Absolutely. It's a major pet peeve of mine to those people who think SSDI are for the lazy who don't want to work etc. I'm on SSDI. It's no picnic. Currently, I live with my parents. I try not to think about what will happen when someday they won't be around anymore. I have 2 younger...

    Feeling sad and hurt...

Doubt if he will pull her up. She comes from a family of alcoholics and it's extremely unlikely she will cut her drinking anytime soon. It's her way of coping with life. My hunch one reason he wants to get back with her so he can have a place to live. Currently, he's living with his mom

S.S.D.I payments faces 19% cuts in 2016. How will you prepare?

I'm a little freaked out as how I will afford to pay my bills. Luckily, my phone contract ends early next year. I know one Deaf dude don't even use a phone to communicate but uses his IPad. Because of where I live in a rural area, I must use Verison. I spend very little as it is on fun...

I'm tired of sharing Deaf events on my personal wall

As I've got older, people seem to gather based on mutual interests whether it's going to Deaf events, Church, local bar, bowling league etc. That has been my observation. It's not often I get a private invite to hang out with someone or a group of people before or after an event.

Pork chopped from federal prison menus

Exactly. Taxpayers shouldn't have to cater to their wants. Only the bear necessities.

Pork chopped from federal prison menus

I find it ironic that these prisoners won't eat something because of their religious beliefs. If they were so religious like they say they were, no crime would of been committed. When people go to prison, they deserve no right what they want to eat. They deserve to lose that freedom when...

A misconception I had when starting associating with Deaf community

Why I thought that? I don't know. I felt handi-capped because the way my family made me feel excluded. I wasn't allowed to do certain things my younger siblings did like mow the lawn or borrow the family car. I never felt like the big sister to my younger siblings

A misconception I had when starting associating with Deaf community

    strong cliques in Deaf community

My signing skills are fairly well. Not super fast like I've seen in some Deaf. I attended a Deaf program at a public school. Although, I was mainstream in classes with an interpreter as I got older separated from other Deaf students. Then I was transferred to another school where I was the...

    strong cliques in Deaf community

A misconception I had when starting hanging around the Deaf community, that it would be more close-knit & like family. Nope, I was wrong. Full of cliques just like in the hearing world. I'm HoH and lived mostly in the hearing world up to a few years ago after losing my job & then started...

As I got older in my adult years, the happier I was NOT seeking my parents' approval to do something. They're adults & don't need approval from anyone who to date

I had a family friend OD'd 6yrs. from today. Then hear stories from friends who knew someone that had OD'd. It's sad. Addiction is a terrible, progressive disease if one chooses not to seek help
