I know that my CI (Med-El Opus 2) processor has a built in "decibel limiter"...not sure of the technical term for it. But essentially it will automatically compensate for extremely loud volumes by decreasing its output to prevent over stimulation of the cochlea....perhaps that is what happened...

The noise is very very faint from the Zephyr.....like 1/10 of a fan on low speed. I keep it right beside the bed and the better half doesnt really even hear it. I can just barely hear it with the CI if i go right down to it. Certainly wouldnt keep any of us awake....not likely a heary either...
