I believe that the life your son will have will be based on you and your husband. To your son, being deaf...is normal. He's not missing out on anything, until people try and bring him or you down with "how can he live without hearing music, or the ocean, or voices" etc. He'll be able to "hear"...

I dont know if its more I get one response from one parent and a completely different one from another parent. And I can see why if she's not in a deaf enviroment she'll quite signing as time goes on. They wanted her second language to be ASL, but only one parent is going to put in the effort...

Maybe! As for me, I'm a 23yr old Hearie so I can kind of relate to that deer in headlight look :shock: But I'm sure as they learn to sign more and become more comfortable in their signing ability and learn to not talk while signing...then maybe they'll ease up. You'll have to let us know! But...

Another way of looking at it is, if the students wanted to be disrespectful or it was nothing but a joke for them, I'd hardly think they would of waited for the professor to leave. Just a thought :hmm:

Do not use your voice :D especially when signing. There's a book called "For Hearing People Only". Theres a thread here on the board about it, from the few clips of the book I got to read it sounds like a good book to add to your library. It has FAQ that the hearing ask the deaf and info on...
