I just moved to Colorado and started a job at a Preschool/Pre-K/Daycare. I've been teaching sign language through Signing Time! DVDs to the Pre-Kers. Some of the kids LOVE Signing Time!, some are ok with it and a few don't like watching it. They ALL will sign "eat please" at snack time and will sign "water" and things like that. My co-workers and I believe that since this is the first time they've ever seen ASL, they don't get the point of it being a language yet. How in the world do you explain this to 4/5 yr olds? How do you get them excited about it? Any helpful hints or games would be appreciated. I'm used to teaching infants who grow up with ASL...this is my first time with older kids. :ty:
