i curious, how sign your name???

I'm glad to see this thread just because I have not been given a name sign yet and people keep asking me what it is. Being as ASL student, I have been very busy finding avenues for interaction and have joined a Deaf Christian fellowship group. The group has a mixture of deaf, Deaf, Deaf-Blind...

How can hearies included the Deaf?

Nanelle, I am an ASL student at Troy University online and have purchased the Signing Naturally textbook w/ DVD series for ASL classes 1 - 3 so far. You do not have to have internet access to use these materials. The books can be a bit expensive, but they are also older (in my opinion) versions...

What did you do today? Part II

I went to work today, got done at noon, came home with all intentions to check things off my to-do list, and did absolutely nothing worthwhile except feed my kids and make my daughter's spunky hat for "hat day" at school tomorrow.

    Frustrated with my voice volume

Ok so I'm going to throw this out there and while it won't provide a solution to your volume "issue" (or lack of an issue in the big picture), maybe it will be a little comforting to you...and maybe even to "all yall" (in my true southern form). Hearing people have different speaking volumes as...

    Questions for a project?

Ok, so I can't answer any of your questions to the degree that you're wanting because I can hear, but I did consider the questions and what I came up with was this: (And please bear with me as I suspect I will come across as pretty naive and/or ignorant regarding the matter.) How would the...

What do we have in common?

Other options for the soap part are Zote soap (which I found made my whites dingey -- spelling?) and Dr. Bronner's Castille soap. Soap nuts are supposed to be a healthy alternative as well, but I've never used them.

What do we have in common?

I switched to the homemade detergent because my daughter has super sensitive skin and even the "free&clear" detergents were causing her to claw her skin. This hasn't bothered her, but everyone is different. I also use white vinegar instead of fabric softener. It reduces static but also rinses...

What do we have in common?

Sure! I use 3cups Borax, 3 cups Arm&Hammer Washing Soda, and 1 bar Fels-Naptha laundry soap. I grate the soap to powder amd then just mix it all up in a container. Wala!

What do we have in common?

How cool is that?! I started fresh herbs (and some vegetables) from seed this year and had a garden. It didn't produce enough to sustain our family vegetable consumption, but it was a nice supplement. I also do my cleaning with vinegar and baking soda...and lemons. I also have been...
