Hate new cars

http://raycomgroup.worldnow.com/story/28424652/chevy-recalling-volts-because-theyre-too-quiet

Chevy recalls Volt b/c they're too quiet , I am not able to hear the newer cars and I have a neighbor that will drive right around me and give me no warning . I can't hear his car at all and hate that .

They are not alone. My mechanics forget to turn the engines off especially in Start/Off buttons (Keyless ignition switch), they can't hear the engine running. Same happens to the motorists. For Toyota Prius, you don't have to worry, this hybrid vehicle will sleep itself, will wake up when hit brake pedal and put a tranny in reverse or forward....

Interesting that you posted this....my new car has keyless ignition and I don't like it because it is so quiet. A couple times I have put my car in park and started to get out when I finally notice my car is still running. Or my husband is driving and my key(less) is in my purse. He drops me off someplace then he doesn't have the key(less). I have not found too many pros for it.

Pros are its almost impossible to steal it, which leads to second pros, cheaper insurance rates for comprehensive coverage.

It make no sense to me imo to have rate go down due to thefts in all newer cars the $ is still going to be high. Thefts are already less on newer cars. Know what I mean? Plus insurance company need $ as much as they can

Curious what you ended up doing to address your windshield situation?

It does, usually first two years, ins companies will put highest possible risk on them until they have experienced cost of repairing, replacement, proof of decline thieves, they will cut the premium afterwards. Its common, you can ask your insurance agent and have them explain to you.

Insurance rate is based on risk period. The less risk (Pay out) the cheaper the rate will get to.

I can tell ya that in a few years, many late model cars will be throw away cars. Those with CVT, hybrids etc. There is very few skilled techs to diagnose and fix them. Replacement transmissions are going to easily be above $5k just for the parts. Same with the batteries

You stole that from Captain Hook... :laugh2:

Little off topic but here's a new toy I ordered to use with the hitch I put on a couple weeks ago if I ever need.... I think I'd be tempted to drag somebody by their nuts if they pissed me off though :laugh2:

I was at the bank once and saw a guy locked out his new SUV ! He was trying to pry open a small side window that he could never had fit through and had his smart phone or iPad out telling it to open the car or whatever . I was watching him for a second b/c I was not sure if he was trying to steal something out of the SUV or steal the SUV . He was getting really pissed of so I decided that it was the guy SUV and left .
I guess there was no keys to the SUV b/c he had none out. I guess that is one way to save gas get locked out your SUV. The guy was banging on window too and kept talking to the SUV , I thought there was someone in the car at first but it was empty. :giggle:

what does anyone think of the new Corvette C7??? I lke it, but i prefer the C6, i dislike the C7's rear end which looks too japanese-ish GTR , why? why the squareish teardrops? bring back the two round taillights, its Stingray!, it must carry on the american tradition, dont go japanese grrr...

but back to my question....C7 good for modern american muscle?!
right now in NZ, there's a C6 with twin turbo an easy 1000 HP...road legal running on normal pump gas... NICE ! but $100,000 NZD wtf... out of my price range lol

Ill take a pre 70's any day over this new crap. Old cars you can build with simple hand tools for a few $$, todays cars cost 1000's and thats just for the tools. Besides the average DIY'er has no clue what to do with the new engines and computer systems.

Some people do swapp carb engine to fuel injected engine for more efficiency. If they have the time and money for this project. Some prefer to keep original and simple to work on, some modified for hot rod use with upgraded carb engine.

I hate fuel carb. They are junk. Lot of people swapped old school engine with today's engine for classic cars.

Yeah modern cars, the more labor cost adds up to the repair bill. The engine bay space gets tightened. With the onboard diagnosis (OBD II) it's easier to pinpoint the problem but the labor taking apart some of the things to access the problem takes more time and adds up cost. Today's engine is controlled by computer for more efficiency and fuel economy.

I think about Jeep Wrangler.

Any pros and cons about Jeep.

If your talking about AMC version, its awesome, if its current Chrysler then it isn't that great.

Its great for single or couples who look for fun in crappy small interior space. If have kids, poor these kids, and there isn't much luggage space, but it surely gets you anywhere, pretty much.

Had it for 4 years, no regret sold it as its too much for me and my family. Glad I have Excursion, went from coast to coast twice with my family, one with and other without travel trailer in back. Fun! Will we do it again? Sure, we will.

Honestly, Jeep is great but its not for everyone.

New cars designed according to the new technologies.
wrong.... to make the government money.
proven fact that the model A ran cleaner than any engine today. and there wasnt a lick of emissions on it. I rebuilt my 79 caprice removing all emission components and it passed with flying colors... just to show the emission is bogus.
