Hate new cars

Nah, I dont do much off roading, just getting in and out of the woods or camping. Dont like to tear things up, just show and tell mostly.

I think I will be covered with mud if I saw you. :hmm:

Back in the day yep now days not so much. When we were racing dirt track the entire track and pits was 1 big mud hole they used to take a tanker and wet it down before the races. One track we went to down towards Shelby even had to put straw down in the pit area cause it was ankle deep mud. I've even had a Ford 4x4 diesel duelly stuck before LOL

Examples of California emission (smog) results:

Wow, This VIR (Vehicle Inspection Report) indicated the car's engine is in very healthy and tiny emission measurement. VIR looks like newer car maybe 2007 or 2008 Model year. I've seen P0500 VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) that the vehicle came in for smog check with code(s) and happened to C/E light popped while dyno run test

There is a dirt track right down the road here, every fri/sat/sun dirt races $5 in the gate.

Here is my 1961 Baja, with a 1641cc high performance motor, running, short pipes, no cats, no mufflers, no baffles...no emmissions whatsoever on this motor, old style points/cap distributor, high performance wires/sparkplugs and dual carbs... do you see any smoke? am I gagging in the garage?
For those who can hear, please vouch it is running. Thank you.

yes it has this crisp, taut sound, old muscle, (i don't mean Muscle car, i meant the tuning and its authenticity of motors, none of the electronic cheating...
a motor cared for when building. Don't think that bumperless arrangement is legal in NZ though...and lack of mufflers might keep it off the road too...you lucky...(T buckets in NZ enjoyed a break but not now...and BIL gave up T buckets because he didn't liked the idea of mudguards on the Buckets...grrr
i agree its dumb, but whatever the white collar dickheads thinks..indeed..the ruined people's passion

Little off topic but here's a new toy I ordered to use with the hitch I put on a couple weeks ago if I ever need.... I think I'd be tempted to drag somebody by their nuts if they pissed me off though :laugh2:

It's better than putting a chain over a hitch ball. Ordered a tow strap with a 20,000 pound break weight so it'll be more than enough. The one in ^^^ pic is a Curt I've looked on a few pages and for that brand it always says limited to hitch rating but looked up a similar hooks by Tow Ready and it said it was rated for 10,000 pounds and I'll never even try that much with my truck lol

rear bumpers not required on baja's, but an engine cage is nice just in case, you are only allowed one accident in these and its totaled if hit hard enough. Busted pulleys, busted heads (due to pipes) broken carbs, even bent cranks...its all exposed and vulnerable to being hit (rear ended)
People even slapped 350 small block chevy's in these as well as other motors from porsch, corvair...ect.... amazing.

Have that one too!

Nice, same here. When you start to see whitish on these yellow strap, destroy it or use it for lighter pulling or knowing it will break but do it safely you'd be fine. Mine can pull at 5 ton (10,000lbs). I think it is enough. But man! 10 years after my Excursion comes off, they got 31K towing capacity, I think it is  but guess they got better design... yet too expensive to own one.

Towing chains are nice but too damn heavy, and they would last longer.

As for towing receiver rating, whichever is lowest is followed, say if your hitch receiver max rating is 10K lbs, but your vehicle maximum towing rating is say 3,500 lbs then 3,500lbs is the maximum you can pull. Today's most cars can't pull more than half a ton (1,000lbs). Mine is factory equipped and the towing rating is 5 ton.

Rear view camera, worth the investment?

Just curious, don't you guys know starting 2012 rear view camera becomes part of option and will be mandatory on all vehicles in near future. Do you think its worth it or nah?

For me, worth hell of investment! Don't buy wireless shyt, get wired one so you can see clear image, Wireless don't offer crystal clear and deals with interferences. Once I was parking near a RV that also had same wireless camera, I was able to see that RV rearview! (At first I was so confused, but later figured out) Sold that truck, and traded with Excursion, put in wired one. LOVE IT, my friend same thing asked me to put one in his. His first thought was waste of money. As soon as he needs to hook up trailer, he said MAN! much easier! I have installed mine so that when I have RV, both of my excursion and RV will be able to hook up my rear view monitor.

Arent those only for backing up/parking... TVs or any type of monitor on dash or in drivers view and being used while driving is illegal here ( examples are new stereos with DVD players/screens ) ok for in back of mini vans that dont distract drivers. I wouldnt think they would be of any use while driving looking at who is behind you, youre not gonna back into anyone on a highway anyways. besides, they dont record anything so no use in an accident.

(** and I know people bypass those dvd car stereos as well **) so they can watch music videos/porn while driving ( seen it with mine own 2 eyes once or twice)

Even hook up trailer couldn't make it any easier! I don't need anyone in back telling me which direction to back up to hook the trailer receiver. I am able to just back up and it will be right spot to drop the hitch onto the receiver in no time.

I have in dash type monitor and the sunlight making it harder to see, so decided have independent monitor mount right above the rear view mirror. I left it on because I found it easier to change the lane, I look at mirror and see car behind, I checked to see if that same car is in the monitor then I know it is safe to change lane, if it is not there then that same car may be in blind spot. Friend of mine noticed same thing and said it DID help, especially when hauling trailer.

Really what started my decision is that I backed up 3 or 4 times and had hit something behind. Once it was acura luxury car, yes damage on it from that hook hitch, LOL Had that camera for about 3 years and loving it and I never hit anything after installed the rear view camera.

Little off topic but here's a new toy I ordered to use with the hitch I put on a couple weeks ago if I ever need.... I think I'd be tempted to drag somebody by their nuts if they pissed me off though :laugh2:
