Kids Turned Away From Church....

This story was all over the news last year....A mother saw a very explict text message to her underage daughter from this man....She reported it, and many other young girls from the same Church came forward about it also.

The girls said he "touched them inappropriately"...and saying he was a man of God, and that God approved what he was doing......He was thrown out of that Church. Now he's reappeared and it's all over the news again....He was also married, but seems to be divorsed now since he's living in a Hotel.

I have tried to decide what bothers me the most about this story.

To me telling an impressionable child that "God approves" has to be the most unconscionable act a preacher could do.

Wow. I stepped away from this thread for a few days, and DANG. You all took this thread in a totally new and interesting direction.

why bother since you're not a Muslim?
To learn about the religion that a huge group of people believe? To understand them better, since the religion is one of the foundations of a large number of societies? To have an educated opinion about the religion, and be able to have interesting conversations about it?

Why NOT bother?

or you can simply befriend a Muslim and have a wonderful discussion.

Wouldn't that go against the whole translation/interpretation argument?

it's a start. beside... you can't read Old Testament so it's a moot point

Boy!! This thread has really evolved into territory that is treading that thin grey line.

I have been friends with a Muslim, don't know where she is now. Did not agree with the religion. No problems.

I was taken to a Mormon church and promptly walked out. Had a Book of Mormon and mailed it back to the church.

I was raised Christian. Read the KJV of the Bible. Have about 6-8 other translations of it as well as study guides and such from my maternal Grandfather. who was a preacher.

I would love to attend a Jewish "service" sometime and understand that faith a little better.

I have even been to a wedding for a Pakistani couple. That was an experience. 7 changes of outfits for the bridal couple and also that many courses of food.

I realize this has nothing to do with this thread, but I felt like butting in anyway. The comments are so much allover the board that I felt like I could.

Could be a bad start. What if the friend didn't understand what he was reading?

ask his iman? lol

or simply go to mosque. you really are asking such unimportant trivial questions.

But, wouldn't that then be relying on the Imam's interpretation?

I know where you're going with this. Don't think you're so clever, you naughty slick willy

The difference is... Quran is Quran in its original sense and ya'all can't say same for Bible... :) and majority of terrorisms and hate in America are caused by Christians, not Muslims

All religions are fake. Period. There's no heaven. Period. And there's no hell. Period.

All acts of terrorism and hate in America are caused by evil people.

So you ar saying the original Quran exist, if so where is it?
Otherwise you can not positively say the ones you are reading
If the original does not exist, moot point.

Simply ask any Muslim to take a look at Quran

Not perhaps. I meant exactly what I said.

But if you wanna say it like that, then 9/11 attack isn't really by Islamic terrorists.

Agreed.

And there are religious sick hate groups and terrorists like KKK, Koresh Camp, and Westboro Baptists Church. There are more hate Chrisitian groups in America than Muslims.
