So...what you think about the health care bill?

We are intelligent enough to know when someone is speaking in a condescending-patronizing manner. It doesn't require name calling. And the person likes to insist on not name calling while doing such.
Not all communication malfunctions begin with name calling...but degenerate into such....

Lost the quote in above post...so requoting it here.
and adding that honest debate requires honesty...not drivel derived from one biased individuals head relayed as fact.

I was referring to an honest debate being one that focused on attacking the issue, not the individual

Cowpuppy, you obviously missed my post http://www.alldeaf.com/general-chat/71946-cant-we-all-just-get-along.html
I acknowledged that I have not used the best debate methods and have resorted to some inappropriate means, but am trying not to lower myself to that level. This means that I will not be speaking to anyone in a condescending-patronizing manner. You don't have to agree with me. I don't have to agree with you. But I am not going to degenerate into a name-calling fest and I hope that you won't chose to do so either. Am I biased when it comes to my stance on this issue? Probably. Aren't we all? I am also willing to present documentation and you are free to do so, as well.

interesting question but here's also a question - are the illegal immigrants the major cause of financial drain? :hmm:
I don't know what you consider "major" but:

Some use emergency medical services without paying in full.

Their children use public schools.

Some drive unlicensed and uninsured, and get into accidents, often hit and run.

Some are involved in criminal activity.

They aren't contributing to the income tax base or Medicare/Social Security fund.

About 13 years ago I was the victim of a hit & run perpetrated by an illegal immigrant. He was intoxicated and had a van full of other illegal immigrants. I chased him down to get his license plate and waited until the cops arrived. When the cops did get there, they administered a field sobriety test, which he failed miserably. He had no insurance. They gave him a ticket and let him go, having one of his buddies drive instead. They didn't want to have to deal with him because they knew it wouldn't do any good. Luckily, I had un-insured motorist insurance to cover the cost of fixing my car.

exactly why they are not the culprit of our financial drain. it's the Americans! both frauds and leechers!

the illegals avoid hospitals like a plague because of fear of being discovered and deportation. they typically seek medical assistance from local spanish-speaking doctor who sympathize with their cause.
Do you spend a lot of time in hospital waiting rooms to observe this?

Infant mortality - statstics lie

Reproductive care should be covered. Maternity should be covered. Currently, we have the highest infant mortality rate of all industrialized nations. We're #33 at 6.3 deaths per 1,000 births. Health care that overlooks the needs of half of the population (the female half, that is) is sorely lacking.
Actually the US infant mortality is very low. Most other countries count only those babies dying over 24 hours after birth. The US counts even stillbirths. This drastically skews the stats.

We have the best medical care in the world and, yes, the best in anything usually does cost more.

I obviously can't reply for Reba, but I did post a link on this subject to a report by USNews. It states that illegal immigrants are a major concern with regard to emergeny room health care. It quotes dollar figures, and statistics, etc.

Sorry Eve.....it wasn't you I was reffering to......I think you are new here or haven't seen some recent topics as regards politics, etc. Most people here know to whom I was referring......sorry, I sometimes forget to drop the link quote that sets my thinking off.
Sarah Palin is the person's heroine and todays Associated Press article regarding Palin describes a rundown of her full blown liars pattern.....which I find quite appropriate to the admirer and admirerer's political cronies......liars and nothing but. And intelligence insulters.
Pathetic liars trying to come across as not such. To claim one is not using name calling while insulting thier intelligence....I ain't playing the game....snooty snobbish insulterer who actually uses falsely spun acedemic documentations in furtherance of this insulting effort toward others.
To remark on a deafies spelling to further one's own acedemia is low and desperate...and very telling. Insecure.
I have also recently posted about 'letting it go' and 'live with the present administration'...not start up the next campaign cycle so early. And I implied that Obama will soon enough shift to appeasing the conservatives. Sure enough, todays papers talk of Obama shifting to a budgeting phase as mid-term elections loom.
It's just politics...live with it.

Obama hasn't appeased to the conservatives and he won't. His liberal views won't allow him that luxury. And so, it is the people's duty to inform others who may not know any better just how bad this is going. So, in a word, Obama is one sick...puppy.

Jdtruly, in a WHO study accounting for reporting differences, the U.S. still comes in last compared to other industrialized nations. Adding still births to other countries' stats does not improve U.S. status. See charts here:

Regarding the US’s High Infant Mortality Rate Creative Destruction

A particularly disturbing trend is how infant mortality is linked to race in the U.S., especially for black mothers.

I think what's even more disturbing is the abortion aspect.

Abortion Statistics

And Congress wants to include abortion in the up coming health care bill.

With all due regard, Cowpuppy, I have seen your post http://www.alldeaf.com/general-chat/71946-cant-we-all-just-get-along.html that caused the thread to be closed, so I know exactly who you were referencing. Regardless, it doesn't matter who a personal attack is directed toward, it has no place in a good debate. As I said before, we will probably never agree on the issues, but that doesn't mean we have to resort to name-calling and personal attacks. Let's argue our cases with merit and documentation and leave the rest out of the topics.

I agree with Eve about problems in the ER. It may be a regional problem but it exists.

Uninsured people end up in the ER and that prevents the ER from efficiently dealing with the most serious illnesses and injuries. Many of people show up for non-life threatening problems that should be handled by a primary care physician. I don't know how many of these people are illegal immigrants, but I suspect that it's a large percentage of them.

Interesting...13 long pages and still counting lol.

So true, Eve. So true. That is one serious loose canon.
