I have already mentioned a little abit about this trip in other threads, but I shall start in this specific thread so I can attract AD'ers to reconsider their holiday trip to Australia in the near future.

Yes, you have read the title, Myself and my friend (who I will persude to come on AD to post here) are going on a 10 day road trip to Cairns in the tropical north Queensland coast (east side of Australia) See image below.

We are flying to Sydney from our hometown, of Canberra which we will be picking up the R.V which I booked few weeks ago. We will travel along the coast of eastern side of Australia all the way to Cairns, which you can see in the image above.

We will travel to Port Macquarie

We will be driving the R.V over 8 days then stay at the desination for two nights and three days, before flying back to our hometown on the night after our trip. I will be available to post while on trip if we can find some wireless internet to connect with my little laptop and will be able to upload pictures too.

So keep this an eye, my trip will begin in early September, 2009!

That s long trip from Sydney to Cairns. how many miles? Is your friend s over age 25 to rent RV?

the R.V I booked allows over 21 years old to drive and I am almost 22 years old ;)

That's the excatly the same way as I am doing in the eastern coast of Australia... but at your end, it will take longer than I thought.

They charges extra for each person under 25 years old who will be driving the RV. Right?

No, only for the people who is UNDER 21 and I am over 21 years old already.

Kind of reminds me of the Australian movie, "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" when they took their bus to the outbush.

Guess we should call this, "Jake's Great Australian Adventure!"

Cairns looks very bright lights. Is it like Las Vegas? Like a gambling tourist spot?

No, not at all - would a casino look alike city be sitting in the tropical rainforest area?

I don't know. That is why I asked. I don't even know where Canberra is.

I probably should brush up on geography!

Haha, Canberra is the national captial of Australia (I.e. Washinton D.C is the captial of United States of America and Canberra is similar to Washington D.C, actually.)

When I saw the word "Cairns", the first thing popped in my head was Toto, the black dog in The Wizard of Oz. :)

 I know, that's why I put (AUS) in the end of the title so to avoid confusion.

If I ever visit Australia, I will go to your place and put vaseline all over your door... your windows... your door handles... and toilet paper your trees... and saran-wrap your car.

You're gonna wish you suggested we visit Australia! ;)

Just kidding. I wouldn't mind visiting Australia. I might even meet Crocodile Dundee! ;)
