    Cochlear implants, do they help?

Bolded - we all do that. I still do that with my CIs sometimes, like in noisy places. Good luck with your testing - hope you fail the hearing tests (which means you qualify) :)

    Cochlear implants, do they help?

You will be tested with words and sentences. Do NOT guess at either. If you don't understand any word(s), let the audiologist know, don't guess. It's easy for us to try to guess at words when doing the sentence test since we have some context if we heard some of the words. What I do is say...

    Cochlear implants, do they help?

I had progressive hearing loss for about 20 years. When it reached the point that a hearing aid was no longer useful in my worse ear, I got a CI in that ear and went from about 4% speech discrimination to 80+% speech discrimination. About a year later my other ear progressed to where it also...

Coronavirus: A real health threat or not?

Yes, it's serious. We don't know yet the long term effects it will have on our health - like our lungs, kidneys, heart, etc.

What are you thinking about? Part VIII

My daughter lives in San Jose. There is a fire to the east of them, that is now 94% contained. When it first started they went into "be prepared to evacuate" mode. Luckily the fire did not reach San Jose, though some areas on the east side were evacuated.

    Planing on getting CI

I believe CI candidates have to try hearing aids first (for insurance purposes), but if I person qualifies for a CI, it's unlikely HAs will help.

    Hair & nails anyone?

They're non essential so they should be closed. Nice looking hair and nails is not a health issue.

    Stay at Home Order

Job hunting (I was laid off for non-COVID-19 reason) and going through stuff in my spare/storage room. I also try to go out each day for a walk and to give my business to food businesses that have curb-side pickup or drive thru.

FALSE "the government will send payments of $1,200 to many adults and $500 to children. " "The payments are subject to an income cap that starts to phase out at $75,000 for an individual or $150,000 for a married couple."

What did you learn today? Part II

I've been doing it since around 3/12, if not sooner. That was the day I did my last grocery shopping. I should be good, grocery wise, for another week, except for milk maybe and I can get that at a convenience store. I do go out for outdoor walks at parks each day. And I have visited my...

    Ci bluetooth?

If you mean a processor attached to the head rather than hanging on your ear, Cochlear, and I believe Med-El, have those. Advanced Bionics(AB) does not because they believe it's important to have the mics near your ear so as to hear more like a hearing person. AB has a t-mic that hangs from...
