    HOH story

From my experience, almost always the latter. In fact, when I went out to eat the other night and the waitress looked at me and spoke clearly I noticed it. When she came back and got my attention before speaking again, I almost did a dance. That may have been about the 4th time...

    AAAAAAAAAAARGh concert :(

Thanks Reba, there's certainly a learning curve here. I appreciate the advice.

    AAAAAAAAAAARGh concert :(

Shoot, no. I thought I had, but it's not in my email that I can find. I've been working on an earlier show that told me flat out no back in February, so we've been going back and forth on that one and this one slipped through the cracks I guess :( I'm obviously new at this, huh?

    How are you feeling today?....

    Frustrated! :(

    AAAAAAAAAAARGh concert :(

I emailed these guys on February 3rd and heard nothing, and then emailed them again to make sure everything was set and they're not going to provide one. I mean, I'll still go and have fun, but I was hoping to actually understand the whole show. Emails below for anyone interested. Don't ever...

    Widex and Phonak users

My widex's are fairly old, but they do sound very natural to me and I like them a good bit. Haven't had phonaks nor anything new, so can't help you there. Good luck :)

New mama with lots of questions!

I'm going to skip all the drama and just throw my $.02. I went through schooling with a 20-40 (or so) loss, unaided. I'm now in the 40-75 range and using aids. I wish I had had a dhh program at school and been provided with tools. I could have really used a notetaker at times, for instance...

    How are you feeling today?....

Predicted 4-6 inches of snow. I have 15 and it's still coming down like crazy. ARGH. So tired from shoveling.

    I am loving this book...

I'll check it out, thanks :) I'm a huge bookworm.

    Have you pimped your ears?

Mine are fairly boring. I have a ring with different colored small beads around my right tube. It matches everything and that way I can tell my right from my left before I've had coffee.

    Ok, they are different....

Football is 3 days a week (ok, Thursdays only half count) for 4.5 months a year. You communicate with your partner constantly. Completely different to me. I'm lucky my husband is willing to learn/do whatever he needs to do to communicate with me. I don't think I could ignore it if I weren't...

HA for Low Frequency Loss (70 DB)

My right ear heads from 75 up to 35, so I feel your pain. I'm wearing Widex Diva's which I love but they don't make them anymore. You'll very likely need a BTE, and not open fit. Some RITE's may work if you can get a custom mold. I was surprised to find that some of the micro Phonaks are...

    Simple, define fluency...

For me, being raised hearing, I'll consider myself fluent when I can express myself as well in ASL as in English and understand others as well. I'd settle for being able to sign anything that pops into my head, even if I need to switch it around a bit :)

    Progressive Hearing Loss

I used to play instruments and listen to music a lot. Now I listen mostly to things I know and love, and don't play anymore. I can't really say I miss it that much though. I enjoy music less, so I miss it less -- does that make sense? I know people always think 'ooooooh I'll miss music' but...

    "asl" songs on YouTube

I'm torn on the whole thing. On the one hand, being HoH and only getting about 1/2 the words in a song, I actually like when they sign fairly close to the english words so that I can figure out what they're saying. Yes, I can read lyrics but since I'm trying to improve my signing, it's sort of...
