Woman Tracks Down Obscene Phone Calls

HERMITAGE, Pa. (AP) - A woman fed up with obscene phone calls tracked down the offender and cornered him as he made yet another call from a public phone booth, police said.

The 26-year-old Sharpsville woman received the calls regularly on Friday and Saturday between midnight and 3 a.m., police said.

The woman, whose identity was not released, had caller ID and asked the phone company to trace the number, police said.

The calls were traced to a phone booth in Hermitage, about two miles away, police said.

The phone company, at her request, forwarded calls on Friday to her cell phone.

The woman and three of her cousins staked out the phone booth and around 1:30 a.m., a former neighbor arrived and made a call, police said. The woman's cell phone rang, police said.

Family members prevented the man from leaving until police arrived.

Fred Marini, 43, of Hermitage, was charged Wednesday with harassment and stalking.

Marini has an unlisted phone number and could not be reached for comment Thursday.

I applaud her. :applause: Good for her!!! No one should have to put up with that!

Hopefully her cousins gave this jerk a taste of his own medicine while waiting for the cops...

I know I have had that problem in the past.. if it was a repeat offender the phone company can set up a "refuse call" that will not allow the offending phone number to get through to your call, And It does Work. :thumb:

maybe Vampy -- those calls occurred on weekends and thats when the majority of ppl are off work with the exception of those in retail, food/hotel businesses and etc -- at least she had the mind to stake out the fone booth so the guy can be charged with stalking and making obscene fone calls -- i dont think shes :crazy: shes a brave one! shes armed with a cell, have a few relatives with her

Yea, but this bozo was using a public phone, meaning he could just make calls from another phone if they stoped being accepted from that 1. I really hope the guy put up a fight so they had to beat him down to hold him for the police.
