Oh yeah? Then explain why new orleans is in total destruction?

The levees were outdated and they broke. That's why N.O. suffered the losses that they did. If the government had provided the funds to fix those levees, then we might not have seen the devestation that we did.

Any way, this is :topic:

It won't hurt the dems in the fall because people already knew the Dems were against the amendment. They knew it in 2004, they knew it in 2005, they know it in 2006. And in spite of them knowing, the dems are still likely to pick up four or five seats in the Senate and at least a dozen in the House.

It will, however, hurt the GOP. The fact that the amendment failed yet again will be a signal to some elements of the Christian Right that the GOP doesn't support their views as much as it claims to--And with the Christian right disinterested, the GOP will have major trouble at the polls.

I agree with you, and I hope you're right. But, unfortunately, this isn't going to stop the blowhards from blustering.

Of course. They wish to further their cause at any cost... What they don't realise is their acting will have an effect opposite of that which is desired.

Yup Which is fine by me.

I would LOVE to see the legalization of gay marriage!

On a state level, I would also love to see gay adoptions legalized. Here in FL, you can NOT adopt a child. You can foster, but not adopt.

How STUPID is that?

It will happen, eventually. People want to be free. People who have that freedom will, over time, develop a sympathy for those who are not. Basic sociology would indicate that, eventually, gay marriage will be legal all over the world.

Indeed. Thus, I'm happy I live in a state that doesn't oppress members of my sexual orientation.

That reminds me of a movie I watched several years ago "What Makes A Family:.

Sad. There are SO many children who doesn't have a parent, and there are many people who WANT to adopt those children but are not allowed. The result is there are so many children in foster care. It's really sad.

Hi TrippLA and LuicaDisturbed, The rainbow represents God's Promise that there will not be a worldwide flood like in Noah's time. Every time you see a rainbow in the sunny awesome blue sky then that is God's Promise. :) :thumb:

Then vote for someone else.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I agree with the vote for someone else. I am curious though, what peaceable assembly that photograph came from...anyone know?

Yes, it's sad. What's even more sad is, I'm not able to have children biologically. I'm also gay (I once IDed as bi, but Im more comfy with IDing as gay now), and live in FL. Therefore, I can't adopt a child. Foster, yes, but not adopt. The whole thing is just maddening to me.

I really hope that when I'm ready to settle down with someone and adopt, either I'll be living in more of an gay- adoption friendly state, or FL law changes.

I have no idea. It may just as well have not been peaceful. The point of my post was that we have every right to protest the actions of government that we disagree with so long as we are peaceful about it.

She has issues. And, yes, its hypocritical to talk out of both sides of one's mouth like this.

Maybe I am swimming up the wrong creek here, but I think I have more of a problem with a constitutional amendment than I do with the homosexual agenda. Is any type (either for or against) of consitutional amendment really needed? I think marriage laws should be handled by the state and not the feds. Is there a consitutional ammendment that says I can marry a black woman (once was illegal) or a foreigner? I think each state should make the decision if they want to allow same-sex marriages or not.
