Would you bail your best friend out of jail?

if bail money is too much i wouldnt pay that much. My friend called me from jail and asked me to bail out at 200 dollars. I said I'm sorry I had to use that money for pay bills, food, etc. I feel bad for leaving him jail longer but nothing i can do. Another thing is....can you trust your friend to pay you back that much money which it is 200 dollars. Can that person afford it? That the problem with trust issue.
yup yup!!!! that my point is hard for trust if my friend will pay me back or not...

My answer is NO.

My family come first, I support my fiancially to.

I don´t beleive to lend money to anyone because money could risk the friendship... No Way.....

Money is for my famliy life, I take care of, not anyone.

I bailed my ex boyfriend, Timothy out three times since.

First: He got into fight with my best friend's ex boyfriend. It costs me 185 dollars to bail him out

Second: got pulled over by the police and foudn out that his license is supsened and got into jail and bailed him out 12 dollars.

Third: He got into fight with his roommate and got into jail for that and I bailed him out 45 dollars.

Then few days after that, he and Im over. *WHEW*

I learned my lesson, dont bail them out until I have good reasons to do that.

I do agreed with you about risk the friendship. I wouldn't want that either.

It would depend on the situation and how much money I have. If it was a very good friend that I obviously know didn't commit the crime and I had plenty of money to bail him out... sure. If it was a friend who I knew had a history and had it coming... and I didn't have a lot of money, I'd say no.

I would not even bail either friends or families especially my parents or grandmothers or uncles or aunts. Not even my idiot sisters and few friends. Because three reasons are that my sister has been committed crimes for what she shouldn't done. We as my parents, brother, one sister include me and relatives refuse to bail her out. She has been in and out of jail few times... Nah forget to bail until she learns her lesson for real. As for friends nah I would not nor my families would not bail anyone. Its getting more difficult for any of us as of my families and friends to trust.

No, I wouldn't do it, even if they were my children. They would have to learn it in the hard way. It'll be hard for me, because I have a big "softy" heart. I pray that it will never happen while I am alive. :ily:

Like others said -- depends on the severity of the crime...but overall, the person's best option is receive support until he/she is released from jail. Types of support I'm talking about is visiting him/her for the duration of being held in jail and talk things out over what landed him/her in jail, etc.

Family, yes I would bail out within a heartbeat without any discussion.

I have 4 best friend (two are sisters and two are friends) and I cannot leave them in jail without bail. I will bail them out no matter what the severity.

However I will draw the line when a family member or best friend keeps landing in jail to support a habit habitually, I will make sure that the best friend or family member serves time and goes to detox institution immediately. Tough love, I call it, others call it judgment.

Please re-read Backerman´s thread carefully because it´s "best friend", not family he is talking about. ;)

Well, my best friend is my wife. Anybody's best friend is Mom, Dad, dog, brother, sister, uncle, son, daugher, etc....

well.. my own dad wouldnt bail me out of jail... his opinion... if i land myself in jail... well.. i deserve it. only time he will stand up for me IF it was based on my deafness and wasnt fair. Thats it. doesnt matter if crimes was real or fake if police thought i did it... well i gotta suffer. i mean... if u get urself in jail.. that means only two things.. u either did it or u hang out with wrong crowd.

P.S. "only time he will stand up for me IF it was based on my deafness and wasnt fair." means like getting interpreter if they wont or communication problems or if i get in trouble just cuz policeman couldnt communicate with me or doing the drunk test during nighttime and i refused cuz of my deafness (i will do breather test but not walk test no way) and things like that my dad will assist. but he wont bail me out.

yes I would help bail out my best friend. that way I can take advantage of that person for the rest of his or her life, I will say, "You owe me, I scratch your back, you scratch mine!!!"

That person doesn't have to pay me back cash$$$, but can pay me back such as babysit my puppy for free, take me places in case my car broke down, everything else. ;)
