MARYSVILLE, Ohio -- An Ohio mom in prison for faking her daughter's cancer said she did it to keep her husband from leaving her.

Teresa Milbrandt said she regrets what she did. She shaved her daughter's head to make it look like she had chemotherapy symptoms.

Milbrandt pleaded guilty last summer to endangering children and theft after starting a collection for her daughter's leukemia treatments. She was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.

The now 8-year-old girl has been placed in a foster home and is in a program for talented and gifted students at her elementary school.

Authorities said Milbrandt and her husband fooled 65 people and businesses in their hometown of Urbana into donating an estimated $31,000 for Hannah's treatment.

Milbrandt said the ruse began in early 2002 during intense arguments between her and her husband.



** shake my head - disgusted ** :eek2: What kind of this mother did to her daughter to shaved her hair off. Poor, her husband freaked out about his daughter who has fake cancer.
 
The lady is wayyyyyy tooo stupid.. I am glad that she deserves a prison!! Dumb lady.

the mom is definately CRAZY :crazy: -- i agree with Oddball -- glad shes been convicted and sent to prison -- *smh* at some mothers out there -- some of them would go to the extreme to get attention!
 
In a way, I don't blame the mother for what she did. Yes, what she did was stupid... however, she really loved her husband and tried to get him to stay with her. She probably didn't realize that it would go too far.

This goes to show how much she cares about her family and would try almost anything to keep her family together.

She said she regret doing it. It was probably when she realized that it went too far.
 
I could NOT Fake any smyptoms on any of my children!

Altho my son DOES have brain tumor. this wasn;t fun to go around and be greedy to get some $ for family to stick together. Ohhh puhlezzzee!

That poor girl who has to go thru with a shaved head just because her mother wants her husband stay with her.. Tsk tsk o her.. glad she's in jail she deserved it..

sweet jeez i think thats a sick thing to go thru! i won't tolerate it for any aspect in life! i just couldn't imgaine my own kids going thru it forget it! glad she's doing time she bit the crime now she's doing time !

She is WRONG to use her daughter as a weapon to keep her husband! Its weak excuse!
 
OMG! I can´t beleive what she did to damage her daughter´s soul & mind...

It´s no EXCUSE what she did because of keep her husband....

She deserve a punishment... All is I hope she suffer at prison...
 
She is not crazy. She try to using her daughter for his attention as stay family together. However; what she did wrong is donation money that went to daughter's treatment.

A other mother or you who is mother might do that as using the child. Because as record that information what most easier divorce is the child's attention.

So I don't blame her for doing this but the shave the head? Why not marriage counclor that better than shave their own daughter.
