UPDATED: 11:32 pm EST January 20, 2010
Ikira Bouvia
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police arrested a woman on charges of domestic battery after they said she beat up her husband.
According to a police report, Ikira Bouvia got into an argument with her husband at their Westside home, and she began hitting and scratching him and punched him on the left side of his head.
Bouvia works for a battered women's program, according to the report.
Bouvia's husband, who did not want to be identified, said the incident was blown out of proportion. He also confirmed that his wife does work with battered women, although he wouldn't say where.
"Domestic violence is a serious problem whether it's towards a man or a woman," said Sharon Youngerman, who works with victims of domestic violence at the Quigley House in Clay County.
