yep.... I drag it as long as I can and sometimes run on fume to get to NJ because the price difference among states is outrageous... NY is about $3.20ish. CT is about $3.10ish. and NJ is $2.75ish.

ah... I was gonna ask why. But you can check fluids, clean windshields, etc. while the gas attendant fills up the gas. I do it all the time.

you can simply program your GPS to create non-toll routes but... I'd do what you do. the condition of non-toll routes here are terrible....

wow.... I wonder when's the last time they do "complimentary" service in here... for me - that was back in 80's. Nowadays... they just fill up gas and once in a while - a bored gas attendant would wash my windows.

NJ price isn't bad now. I pay $2.73 here.

Thru trial and error experience, we've discovered our best routes. The one time we came home thru NJ a few years ago was awful, especially because it included coming thru NYC. The only reason we did that was to visit my childhood home in S. Plainfield. Otherwise, we don't go that way.

No, mini-service means gas attendants to fill up pumps only. Mini-service s gas price is cheaper than full service.

FIL noticed that the "attendant" wasn't putting the dip stick all the way down. Then, the attendant would say, "You're about a 1/2 quart down." But they sold the oil only in full quarts, which the driver wasn't allowed to take home.

All kinds of scams.

Most newer vehicles have oil level in the dashboard. They will alert you when your oil is low or it will auto shut down before damage the engine.

Some Europe do not have dip stick.

full-service gas are out of luck for scam.
