who's hearie here on AD? (what are you here for?)

Ramamma

I am so moved by both of your conversation that I had to say something.
My grandniece was born deaf and her parents realized something peculiar right away. They are always learning something new in order to communicate with her.
I am blessed to be her babysitter along w/ her younger (hearing) sister & brother. I have 9 kids of my own and we are all learning to sign with Shania.

My third youngest boy is forever brings me our ASL dictionary and signs a new sign for me to learn, in turn I teach him what I learn in my ASL 101 class.

One thing that I pray about for my grandniece is that her parents will strongly consider the deaf school about 1 hour away for her. I worry that the mainstream is not helping her in her education. Her mom & I have talked about how she is falling behind the other children her age already at age 8. I even urged her to read the book from my ASL class re- the pro's of deaf schools.
