Who would have chickens?

Why can't you have chickens, I thought you owned your own house. I know some town have laws about not having farm animals in your yard.

I've got 20,000 you can choose from. One set of houses are going out this Thursday, want me to send you one? They are Tyson-bred Ross and Cobb chickens. :giggle:

Actually chickens are pretty simple to take care of. Just don't let them pack up in the summer heat and overheat and die. In the winter you can run a heat lamp over their coop to keep them warm. Give them clean water and feed and they're good to go. Also, learn your chicken diseases, at least your basic ones that are visible to the naked eye. The biggest one I come across is Airsacculitis and Iflammatory Process (IP). Those are two most common ones I see in the chicken houses and definitely very common in the slaughter house.

LOL, I haven't heard of "parched peanuts" since I moved from Tennessee!
 
I live in an apartment complex in the city...there's a lady who has a pet pig. ;) My girls love seeing it when she takes it for a walk...
 
My grandfather, who was my father's stepfather used to have a chicken/strawberry farm up in Garrettsville, OH. All I can remember from the family talking about it, was Grandpa Chick had to sell the farm and did not get much money, since the chickens used to raid the strawberry fields and then roost in the loft of the barn. Family never got up there to clean and then the loft fell through due to the weight. Barn was never repaired, so the farm was sold for "peanuts on the dollar".

And yes, he did actually go by the name Chick.

They are prohibited by the homeowners association, and by the county. We aren't zoned for them.
