Actually chickens are pretty simple to take care of. Just don't let them pack up in the summer heat and overheat and die. In the winter you can run a heat lamp over their coop to keep them warm. Give them clean water and feed and they're good to go. Also, learn your chicken diseases, at least your basic ones that are visible to the naked eye. The biggest one I come across is Airsacculitis and Iflammatory Process (IP). Those are two most common ones I see in the chicken houses and definitely very common in the slaughter house.
