Here's a thread for us newbies to get to know the old... senile... ADers :)

What are your hobbies, passions, and aspirations? I know we are not one dimensional and our deafness does not define our entire existence, so spill the beans! Curiosity is killing this cat ;)

Yes, I am aware that this topic may have been posted before and probably belongs in a different category BUT I believe hobbies are continually altered and updated ;)

I can't wait to learn more about y'all :hmm:

Fine, I shall begin

I adore mushy music ((ducks tomatoes)) and car keys set this birdie free. I enjoy driving for many miles under the sunset... corny yes... but it makes me feel alive once again.

I have a need for speed, I've come across many a cops in my lifetime even before I had my driver's license. Having a child in the backseat has calmed my wild ways so I rely on quads and roller-coasters to feed my speed addiction.

I crave spicy foods but haven't found a dish hot enough to satisfy my cravings.

I've always wanted to be part of the Veterinary Medicine field and who knows, maybe my dream will be reality now that my future is being molded by my own hands :hmm:

Now it's your turn!

Frisky... (gasp) you adore cats?

Astounding revelation!

Yes, you are forced to come back with new information. Or I'll hold a cat hostage LOL

I adore cats too! I have two. One is a sweet little moosh, and the other is mischievous.

I'm a grad student, which means I have way less time for hobbies than I like. One of my hobbies is reading, and I definitely get to do that! When I have time, I also like painting, knitting and hiking.

I love being in Deaf communities a lot in the past but now I am living on the reservation on the Island and I only attended special Deaf events one or two times a year. On the Island there were one Deaf living in another reservation and his Deaf sister and her Deaf husband living on the mainland, so sometimes I get in touch with them.

My favorite hobbies are powwow dancing, crossword puzzles and typing.

I also love to be out in the bush helping my hearing husband out. Most often in the Fall, it is the best time for me to enjoy walking and doing things with my husband in the bush. I love it the best. I have been doing that ever since I was very young child and that was my most cherished moments in the bush and still is. :D

How old am I? Lets see *Checks* oh, I'm too young!

:io:

Not so easy Birdie. Go read read the old stuff. Dont want to ruin all the fun research. lol

my gosh, about me?

What don't I do is better said. I don't do the following: Basketball, Ice skating.

I will not eat scrambled eggs, deep fried tarantulas, or goat fetus.

My hobbies: ANY card games, 4 wheeling, power sports, pok'her, softball, billards, foosball (I am currently one of the best in the state), and uhh many more.

What do I do for a living? This year I've remodeled a house, painted three houses, interpreted, play poker, drive a semi, built a stock trading software, computer services, website services, and god knows what.

Things I really like - inserting disgusting information in your head that you will have issues of removing. Such as Goat Fetus up above, and the image of Manboob Velcro.

Cheri, you're next.

I'm a single mom to two handsome hearing sons.

I've been working with food service for a long time, and now I'm a chef at a restaurant industry and I've also been working for my dad who owns a bbq company for over 20 years.

I am a big fan of Faith Hill (country singer) and have most of her CD's

I love watching romantic movies that combine with passionate love, drama and a perfect chemistry love story.

I have always been a fan of Nicholas Sparks, I was amaze in how he writes novels. I love all of his novels and he's so hooooootttttttt too. ( I wish he was my husband) lol :naughty:

I also have a dog (yorkie mix.) ;)

listed in my profile :)

PFH: Dude, I totally agree with you. I will not eat, under any circumstances or in any capacity, scrambled eggs. Keep that nasty shit away from me.

I am a homeschooling parent of 2 teens who enjoys reading most anything, knitting, sewing, quilting, scrap-booking, card making and cooking.

I keep house for my family of 5 living with my mother-in-law. I am learing ASL on my own for now waiting for a class to come up at the Deaf Service Center. I am the youngest child in my family and the only one for 8 generations that has gone totally deaf. Only 3 hoh in the line.

I love dogs and cats, but can't have them due to MIL's allergies.

I love and miss listening to music, but when I did, I listened to Contemporary Christian, Country (older) and Classical. I used to play piano and flute. Can't remember anything of my flute lessons, but I can still play piano. (just have to get to the church during the week)

I've been married for 16 years to a wonderful man who has slight brain damage since birth due to meds his mother took while pregnant.

Wow, fascinating stories!!

I didn't realize the guys here were ch-ch-chickens..

I am brave enough to watch 'Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman"

Hah!!

((runs away from fish sticks))

Ah yes Violet, I'm sure of it ;) hey I noticed that you said you weren't deaf, are you HOH or hearing? :)

Hehe thank you! :)

Im hearing...in the interpreting major ;)

Very nice! I hear being an interpreter pays quite well :) I had to 'translate' for a few deaf people, easy money indeed. Glad to see that you're involved with the deaf culture :D

I am deaf, plus one eye blind. I spent the past two years having health problems.

I was diagnosed autistic as a child but later upgraded to Asperger's syndrome.

I just found out to top it all off that I have a Mitral valve heart murmer of the worst kind. If I understood , it is a Gallop. But for the good news if your have to have a really bad heart murmer, a Mitral valve one is the best to have.

I am starting a new very slow walking program to help that out. And going on a diet too.

In spite of all that mess that is me physically, I am just here to make you laugh most days.
