I've been wanting to post this question for awhile, so here it is. Which internet based relay service do you prefer? What do you look for when it comes to relay service? I'm just simply looking for opinions and feedback, and hopefully a nice, fruitful discussion.

And yes I realize VRS is superrior, but I'm not interested in this becoming a VRS discussion.

I use either SprintRelayOnline or IP-Relay. I find it easier to just type on the computer than signing through VRS or something.

A sample size of 4 people isn't enough to say that Sprint Relay Online is "popular." I'm sure there's a bunch more out there who have their own preference who haven't spoken up yet.

Don't really have a preference. I use Nextalk the most (IP-relay?) but I like the others too.

I use AT&T Relay on the web. I haven't used the IP Relay in a long time, I should try it again to see if it cooperates with me on my web browser because of java issues.

I mostly use AT&T Relay on webite. If I use my sk2 when I want to call my mom or my family or others on ip-relay.

i use the nextalk.net for my ip and tty related calls and i use the IP relay on my SK and sprint relay online plan to add one more feature tty to tty based so my incoming tty users can call me

i711 if on computer when sorenson just sucks with their availabilty. If on AIM, I use either-- HipRelay or MyIpRelay-- whom answers back faster. I don't like HIP's "SKSK" because once you say it, you hang up even if "GA TO SKSK"! ARGH! GO AHEAD TO HANG UP MEAN THEY HANG UP, NOT ME! :pissed:

Oh well. :gives:

I used to use SK Terminal Client's service with IP-RELAY and I liked it because I can change fonts (YAY!) but I haven't used any relay services on SK or computer because they are SUPER-slow and annoyed for the hearing callers. I don't know if there are actually more available RELAY services via Terminal Client... if so, I wouldn't mind trying them out especially to see if they have fonts I can change around.

When it comes to need to disclose my name, I don't like online relay services screwing up my name when I am talking to my bank, cell-provider, and et cetera. Too confusing. Online relay is only good for quick calls to strangers, imo, to request product information and whatnot where you don't have to talk a lot just... "Hi... blahblah.... oh? thanks BYE ga to sksk".

Don't type SKSK. Techinically, typing SKSK means end of call period. We're supposed to interpret that as you're threw and you want us out of your face. Simply use one SK. Such as GA to SK.

And I'm assuming that you've had some bad experiences with RO's getting your name pronounced correctly. Sorry. We are simple minds. Best way to correct this problem is to use spelling protocol. Space out each letter.

sksksksks

As far as speed, I don't know about other services, but IP Relay's connect time has greatly improved lately. Its much faster than ever before, no matter what time of the day. I don't know what changed, buts its very convenient.

I use MCI ip-relay on my Nokia with terminal program. it work fast.

And to think this whole time I thought the only way to access wireless IP Relay was from the downloaded program on a Sidekick II.

I use i711 to call out on my sidekick because it accesses my address directory. Also, the incoming is red and outgoing black making it easier to see. But, if I have an important business call I use IP Relay from my AIM because I can email the conversation to myself from my sidekick.
