When you talk, can you hear your voice?

i am stone deaf and talk all the time. i have nooooo clue what my voice sounds like but i do have this fake voice in my head that sounds real masculine and i go by that. people understand me 90% of the time. i always think it was due to my voice training when i was hearing up to age 11

I am total deaf and do not hear my voice. I can feel the vibrations and like DDU (gawd - did I just say that?) I have a voice in my head that I perceive to be my voice when I am talking. I have been told that my speech is excellent, I just can't hear a thing at all.

I always wonder..can deaf people "hear voices" in their heads? If so, what is it like? lol

Well, for me, since I had some hearing for 42 years, I know what some people's voices sound like. Now, I moved back to an area where we lived when I had some hearing even though I am now total deaf and I still hear Spanish people voices when a Spanish person talks to me or something like that. As far as other sounds, I go from memory.

i think in voices, read in vices, type in voices. my brain is sooooo hearing. just shoot me

I can hear my own voice but I don't like my voice. Deaf accent. My hearing friend says he likes my voice but he says he doesn't like his own voice. I told him that I like his voice better than mine. I don't know why he doesn't like his own voice but I will ask him about this when I see him tomorrow. It's interesting, tho.

I can hear my voice, but I can't hear all the sounds I make. When I make any sibilant and fricative (s, th, f, etc), all I hear is air being forced out of my mouth. My hearing aids definitely help though.

I couldn't hear them either before I got my CI.

I couldn't hear a thing even with my HA's and people say i was talking loudly. I have profound deafness. Since I had the CI, people moan that I am too quiet.... I can hear my voice only with CI on.

I'm confused by some of the things I'm reading in this forum.

I have read that some of you can not hear your voice when you talk. What is meant by this? I am HoH and when I talk, I can hear my voice. Is this not the same thing as what the "normal" person hears when I talk to them?
Do you have any hearing without the HA's?

Like many of the other deaf have said in this thread, many of us usually only hear our own voices when wearing the HA or CI. Otherwise, we'd probably just be feeling the vibrations.

Although, I could see the difference when voicing without the HA vs with the HA vs with the CI. And usually sound the best when I'm voicing just with the CI.

I can't hear my voice but I can tell if I am too loud or too quiet by vibration in my throat. Too much is too loud, too little is too quiet, need be just right.

I don't like the way I sound when I talk. I think i come off as sounding ditzy, which in reality, couldn't be further from the truth.
