What's your experience like at the airport?

Right; Calvin :thumb:

The better everyone packs and dress right, the faster the security lines will move; Before going through the security screening process at the checkpoint; I know not to wear jewelry or anything that involves metal. I dress simple, and keep it simple. I follow the TSA tips. ;)

I remembered that one time the alarm went off on me going through screening process at the checkpoint; I didn't understand why, because I wasn't carrying anything metal on me, then the security did a hand-wand inspection, and it was beeping near my breasts. I was like :ugh: What's going on with those breasts, without realizing that I was actually wearing an under-wire bra.

Cheri,

It's funny about your under-wire bra.

My next-door neighbour got married and they flew to LA/Alaska for honeymoon last August. Her luggage went missing so she had to wear her (tall) hubby's baggy clothes everywhere for 2 days, even to a restaurant. The luggage was later found.

Hubby & I always have 2 changes of spare clothes in our overnight bags for just in case, also I pack some of my clothes in hubby's luggage and some of his in mine. That way we're covered. :)

Hi Matilda,

Oh, wow. she wear her husband's baggy clothes everywhere for 2 days and in restaurant too. good things her luggage was later found, whew.

I hate riding on planes, mostly because I'm a borderline germaphobic. I worry about who's been sitting in the seat before me (I do wipe down the seats with Clorox wipes). Maybe I should marry Monk. And I hate sitting so close to strangers.

The worst airport story I have was when I was child. My mother flew all five of us girls alone to Germany (moving from Texas, I think). They lost our entire luggage. :(

Airports suck, especially during the holidays. But I do love to sit and watch people and wonder about what they are doing, where they are going, and how often they fly. I used to sit at an airport for many of my creative writing assignments when I was in college. Airports are great places to inspire writing. :)

My mom's a germaphobia too.

For me, it depends on the airport that I go to.

From my experience, most airports allow passengers to go from terminal to terminal without having to go through security checkpoints. However, there was one airport that had this and I ended up having to repack my carry-on bags because they didn't know how to repack it themselves. (I had a Xbox, a few DVDs, and a couple hats.)

One airport had a guy who was a prick when it came to checking my back. He started talking to me in an unclear manner and I couldn't understand him. When I asked him to repeat, he was like... "What part of 'Can I check your bag?' do you not understand?" When another co-worker pointed out that I was deaf, he was like... "Oh, why didn't you say so!?" then checked my back. He didn't even handle it properly. That was only once when this happened.

Really, Oh man. It happened to me too. Sometimes, I don't understand what he or she says because of the background noisy. I told him, I'm hard of hearing. he paused and says, "never mind", he wasn't that mean, just didn't know. he didn't notice my hearing aid because i cover my hair.

I don't blame you, but be prepared to react quickly. Not answering in a prompt manner may end up red flagging you. I assume tnese people are on a combination of too much coffee and on hair trigger alert! LOL

airports in USA suck big time. government (FDA) needs to step in and regulates more. The delaying, shoddy customer service, etc.... it's insane.

FDA? How does the Food and Drug Administration work with the airports? You probably meant to say FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), didn't ya?

Anyway, Of course, everyone knows that traveling can be a hassle but there are ways to smooth it out by following the proper procedures. For instance, if I were to fly through the spring/summer/early fall time - I tend to wear sandals or flipflops because it makes it easier for me to remove it and put it back on throughout the security checkpoint. In the winter, I'd wear shoes that is easier to wear as well. So, basically, all you have to do is to make sure what is allowed to be on and what isn't allowed.

My experiences with the airport has been relatively pretty good although there was one incident where I had to be delayed until the next day. The airline was nice enough to find a room in the adjoining hotel from the airport for a night.

I had pretty good experience traveling, I know the tight security is no fun. I do carry light as possible especially now, that we are being charged per luggage crazy. I do dress accordingly, avoiding jewelry or anything metalish. I dress simple and light and carry my backpack with reading materials and word search puzzles to entertain myself :)

I had kinda similar situation, thats why i prepare my stuff like hearing aids in my handbag, earrings, belt before going to security check, sometimes i get some help from airport assistant so i couldnt get lost.
