WESTLAKE, Ohio -- A waitress who asked a woman to show proof of age upon ordering a drink was shown her own license, police said.

The waitress, a 22-year-old Lakewood woman, had reported her wallet stolen from a bar on July 9. Her driver's license and credit card were in the wallet. The credit card had already been used for $1,000 in illicit purchases, authorities said.

Last week, the waitress was working at the Moosehead Saloon when the stolen license was produced, officers said.

As the waitress called Westlake police, the woman apparently got suspicious and took off , according to police. She was identified by a friend as Maria Bergan, 23.

Bergan was arrested at her home Saturday night. She remains in the Westlake City Jail.

What!?!?! Didn't she look at the license she stole? You would have at least figured she would do that if nothing else... Talk about dumb criminals...

It is just as bad as the guy doing a holdup using one his own blank checks to write the message to the teller. He got nervous and ran right out and left it behind...

Not everyone pays close attention to IDs. Sometimes, all they care about is the gender, the hair color, and the skin color. If it's a big white guy with brown hair, they will expect the license to have a picture of a big white guy with brown hair.

I've had people come up to me offering to pay me money for my license.

Or the criminal with a gun that jumped over the liquor store clerk's table then punched in the cashier and then left. The police came and just took his fingerprints right off the glass panel of the table and the cashier where he pushed a couple numbers to open the cash tray then he ran out and the door had his fingerprints on it. He already had 148 convicted criminal offenses ranging from simple assault to armed robbery and 32 pending criminal offenses at the time of his arrest, to top it off. He was drunk and high violating his orginial parole terms and he also had escaped from the county jail years before that and it never turned up each time he got arrested. What broke the police case was that a police officer visiting another police station, not his own but from out of state, he recongized the criminal right off the bat as he was being escorted in cuffs through the police station !!!!! What is even more incredible, in almost all of the crimes that he committed. I was watching the tv news and guess what he used each and every time ? The race card. The judge threw that criminal and his lawyer in jail and they were denied bail and the criminal went to jail for life and the lawyer was disbarred from practicing criminal law ever again , those laws that he exploited for the race card was closed. I can only hope more and more criminals will be caught as more of the justice system gets smarter and the criminals get more and more dumber !!!! :dance2:

I saw a similar story somewhere a couple of years ago. This girl had ordered checks, and they were dropped off on her doorstep (not smart in the first place) but someone stole them. So she went to work as a cashier someplace, and this stranger tried to pay with one of the girl's checks. :giggle:

as a bartender you only look for the birth date but you would think the person showing the stolen license would recognized the waitress from the picture.

that aint good for teenages or adult to stealing parent's ID or checkbook approve fake ID that wrong they break the laws!

i never make fake ID before and i got my real ID approve to show bars if you are drink at over 21 years old can do it but dont drink under 18 years old that not good idea!

mostly teenagers always make fake id if you are not real ages DONT make fake id or your parents will found out about your fake id and getting in big troubles and parents will talking with principal and photographers teachers also dont make fake id im warning about that.I never make fake ID and i would getting stay out trouble.

All too funny. It's like the cop being shown his own lawn mower to buy at a sting operation.
