I talked with my mom about "paragone" "woodworm" vitamins. She took the box with her to Health Food Store and asked to Herbalist the question. They said I can't take ParaGone. It's wrong kind. My mom couldn't return and get money back to me. She said I have to give to my sister in the law and return to her. My mom said my sister in the law is WRONG! She said, "you can't take Paragone without doctor know. If you get paragone it will cause get worse and will take a test positive of ParaGone in system" I told her that's why I didn't take it yet. I will hands the box "ParaGone and Woodworm vitamins return to my sister in the law". My husband said, "You have to be strong to stand and confront to my sister and give the ParaGone and woodworm return to her and tell her that you can't take it without doctor know." She need to stop depeond on my health. She is not my doctor! She think she know it all about medicine and vitamins more than doctors. She is full of BS!

I am sorry that you had to deal with your sister. It seems to me that she is trying to help you. She could be wrong sometimes.

Actually, most doctors do not know anything about the herb stuff. It is always a good idea to ask your doctor before you take it as to be safe.

I asked my primary doctor about Beta Glucan, and he said that it should be fine. Now, I have the rash on my skin. I have to admit that I took two other new medicines, and I do not know which one that caused the rash. But, I googled it and said that it came from Beta Gluten. It is not clear to me.

I'll start with a tiny dose once for one week to see if I have the rash or not. Glups. I need to protect my heart condition because I had ton of antibiotic when I was in the hospital two years ago that caused my immunity weakness. I had a Staph Aureus infection in my heart valve. That's why you have to be very careful with open cut from your skin or especially gum infection. It is almost impossible for any antibiotic medicines to kill this bad germ.

You must stay away from someone who has a sore throat immediately especially if you have a heart condition. The sore throat contains Staph. No kiddy. (You should not stay with this person in the same place. Just go out with someone in a different place until this person's sore throat is completely gone.) Wash your hands and your face immediately. That's what my doctor told me.

Not always. And, it's strep. But, even that's not dx'ed by an individual alone. You need a strep test to determine if it's strep throat or not. Most of the time, sore throats are caused by viruses; not bacteria.

Staph lives on our skin. It normally does no harm, but if we have a cut or an open wound and the staph is allowed to enter the body, it can multiply and cause illnesses. That's when it can get very messy, indeed. Strep is airborne. It can enter the body through the mouth and nose and cause a variety of illnesses such as strep throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, sinus infections, ect.

yes, I wish FDA would add lists approved of Herbal supplements et al with homeopathic tx. Yes, NAFTA, instituted something to better police it, but I doubt highly if they subsidized enough to follow through effectively. I feel FDA as a subtle fear with herbs, d/t there is truely so many FDA approved medications that interact significantly with herbs. I don't see why there is fear of avoidence rather than education. I don't know what stronghold Drug companies have under the table with US Gov't. This is a crazy money driven world and OIL and Drug Companies are the richest corporations on the planet. It is a corrupt world, I feel regular people get left out to dry. There are many benefits from homeopathic therapy for those searching for alternative, but you will have to self educate because of the reluctance from some physicians (among others) who just do not specialize or educate themselves enough.

I agree with you. FDA should approve for Vitamin Supplement.

I did wrote a note to her. I don't want to talk or discuss with her in face to face. I don't want to see her emotion. You know I mean?

I am sorry about your skin have problem. What kind of skin's problem do you have? My mom has problem with her skin on her hand. Her herbalist said the best get a gluten free. It helped her a lot. She did go to many different doctor for skin. It's not help her get heal it.

I will go to see my GI doctor next Thursday morning. I can't take Paragone without doctor know. I am caring about my health. I don't want to go back hospital again. You know how is hospital expensive.

The most common bacteria that colonizes in throat when infected is Streptococcus. Staphy, and Strep bacteria are extremely common to colonize on skin/underfingernails etc. Pink- a virus can cause a sore throat, but strep nor staph are viruses. That is why you get a culture to simply see if it is a bacteria (in which you can treat with antibiotics), or viral, in which case antibiotics will do nothing for.

Also, it is very important to understand the importance of treating strep infection is that the bacteria can gain access to bloodstream, and then colonize on your heart valves causing whats called a rheumatic heart. This has potential to cause something from a small heart murmur all the way to being life-threatning.

That's right. But, I didn't know that strep can live on the skin, too? I thought it entered the body via airborne particles? (like if someone sneezes, coughs, ect) ??

One aquires a strep infection most commonly from contact with something contaminated with it. It can be live for while away from host. Reason it gets into upper respiratory tract is that if you touch mouth or something, it decends down easily. Many many viruses are communicated by way of air borne particals AND can stay active on a surface for much longer than most bacteria. Yes we could almost always curture some kind of strep bacteria on some skin, or from under nails.

Wow! Ok. I honestly didn't know that about strep. I have had both infections, though. I had a pressure wound a few years back, and aquired a staph infection. It was deep and it also invaded my bone causing osteomyelitis. I also ended up with a resistant strain of another bacteria (NOT MRSA), but something else. It was corynebacterium hemolyticus. Don't ask me what THAT is, but it ended up being secondary to the staph infection. The cory bacteria wound up in my bloodstream and I almost died. :(

Ouch! That's interesting. I didn't know that. I agree it's very important to treat for strep. Do you think it will be heal or what? I know you're a RN nurse.

Maybe did you have VRE (vancomycin resistant enterococcus). Do you have central line with long term abx administration to treat the pressure sores. That Osteomyelitis is One bad boy! I hope things are great for you now. Please share any concerns and questions with me.

Doug, I suggest you PM to OceanBreeze not this thread. She rather be private. You can help her out. :)

you're right there, its a crazy money driven society, its called Capitalism. and if you look at Sweden its not surprising that they are one of the worlds richest country, they are the major makers of drugs, especially antidepressents as being one of their favourite biggest earners....

and yes Oil too, in a way it seems to make sense that the two help one another, to exploit the oil and yet to control people's fears of their being exploited by keeping them complacent. As does to enable people to ignore the damaging of the environment, flourine in toothpastes is one such thing and its old been around since WW2 - for that reason, since it was then discovered as a nerve pioson - no kidding.
Even it is poisoned so much that people are getting cancers, Erin broncivich is an obvious example however its cancerous damage we have abroad is not as 'obvious' as this film suggested, it goes all over the place, weather taken it , all the while acumulation of one form of poison or another which the body slowly gives up fighting to, ends up vulernable to develop cancer - i dont know thisw much unlike you, aren't you a Registered Nurse? hence the RN on your screenname??
cheers

Yes, grummer, I am a nurse :D I dunno though about the flourine with cancer. I think people should have choice to receiving flouridided water or products with trace flourine. Despite the very low risk for cancer, flourine has done amazing things in the world. I love flouride personally...it makes for fewer cavities and better feeling teeth. I feel it is amazingly resiliant of human body to not have even HIGHER rate of cancers today with all the environmental and chemical carcinogens we are all exposed to, when compared to just 50 years ago.

No. It wasn't VRE. In fact, I was treated with vanco for the cory bacteria. It was responsive to vanco and zithromax, so that's what I was treated with at the time. I had a hickman catheter for treatment of the osteo. They placed it on the 6th day of my admission due to having no peripheral IV access LEFT ( Between the IVs, and blood draws for the tough levels, I was blowing my veins left and right). I no longer have the central line, but it was in for two months.

I also had the pressure sores surgically closed, so everything is all healed up. I've been pressure sore free for about a year now. :)

lol its funny how these threads just trail off topic. By the way pinky how long had you been taking multivitamins? The body could take a long time to adapt to the multivitamins (maybe 6 months to a year?).

As for vitamin A, yes it can cause liver problems but that's if you overdose it for a long period of time (say maybe you're taking 15,000IU vit A rather than 5,000IU on a daily basis). Doctors said the same thing to me cuz I overdosed at times but I didn't do it long enough to do damage to my liver. I been taking vitamin A for about over 6 years now and have absolutely no problems. And speaking you wanna intake the right minerals and vitamins for your vision, you don't need to take lutein pills or anything as long as your eating certain fruits and vegetables like spinach, kiwi fruit, grapes, oranges, peaches, broccoli, green beans, peas, melon, etc. They include lutein and Zeaxanthin which are good for the eyes.

As for people that are against multivitamins, it really makes no sense why they say its harmful when it's completely natural (be aware some companies use chemicals and nonnatural herbals and ingredients in their vitamins so it could be dangerous in the long run). Multivitamins strengthens the imune system and provides the body nutrients it needs cuz you don't gain all your necessary minerals everyday from food. Vitamins make up for that. If you're constantly feeling sick in any way throughout the years, it's most likely because you have a weak immune system and you think you're gaining all the vitamins and minerals just from the food you eat. I'll tell you what, the longer i been takin multivitamins, the longer i can go without getting sick. It's such a great feeling when i'm the only one walking around during flu seasons and everyone gets sick but me. I was last sick (barely) in Dec 2007, and before that, i was sick in Sept. 2006, and before that it was in 2005. I use to be the one to get sick 3 times a year but now it's once every 1+ year since. This is just to prove that multivitamins hadn't killed me after many years of taking

No! Not that why. I took a multi-vitamin from my GI doctor's recommend me. Because I had an Ulcerative Colitis. I think Birth control pills ruin my liver. I don't really know why. I didn't feel my liver is hurt at all. Maybe be fatty tissue on the mass of liver. I never experience with liver before. I don't take many vitamins. Just 2 vitamins that all. Sometime I forget to get it. Let my liver doctor find it out what's wrong. I hope it's nothing happen.

A lot of times something that shows up on a CT scan on liver as a problem or potential problem is something you do not have a symptom for. It is not until 80-90% of liver damaged/dead/affected until a person has a 'physical symptom' of a liver problem or failure.
