For many years, i've read that blacks are more likely to die of heart diseases sooner than whites and they often blamed on stress, malnutrition, etc but none of those factors were that clear cut. I've always wondered why. Now this mystery may have finally been solved.... it's the vitamin D deficiency:

Low Vitamin D Has a Role in Heart Risk

If vitamin D deficiency is proven to be the primary cause, then it's great news because that means blacks simply just pop vitamin D and protect themselves from premature diseases and save their lives (assuming they eat well and exercise).

They would need alot of sunlight too but because they are black, I am not sure they can pick up Vitamin D as well or not.

I do know that milk is supplied with Vitamin D so they should drink more milk.

Unfortunately, lactose intolerance is widespread in the adult black population, so drinking milk might be difficult to do.

I take calcium + D myself. My general practitioner tells me to get more sunshine exposure, and my dermatologist tells me to avoid the sun. :dizzy:

avoid DIRECT sun exposure. apply lotion with UV protection. then.... have a great day! :cool2:

That's the problem--UV blockers also block vitamin D. :giggle:

Eat a lot of oily fish. A lot of Asians are lactose intolerant and get their vitamin D from beef liver, eels, tunas, sardines, mackerels, salmons and so on.

It's not surprising. Latinos are also at risk of becoming vitamin D deficient, because they have more melanin in their skins. Melanin acts as a natural sunscreen. It blocks sunlight that helps Latinos like me make vitamin D.

There are ways to eat vegetables, fish, mushrooms, etc.

I remember Dr. Oz saying that people live in Northern Latitudes are not getting enough Vitamin D unless they take supplements.

Natives in North Latitudes do not get any sun at all can still survive because they depend on fish, seal, cod, etc.

Dr. Oz encourages y'all to drink shit called cod liver oil- full of Vitamin D3. He says that it's the right kind of vitamin D.

Just hold your nose, and drink it up.

*shrudders*

People get vitamin D through their diets, sun exposure, and oral supplements. Genetic factors common to blacks sometimes preclude vitamin D absorption, such as a higher incidence of lactose intolerance, which can eliminate vitamin-D fortified milk from the diet, and darker skin pigment that significantly reduces vitamin D synthesis. Therefore they should boost vitamin D levels safely, with supplements
