Our church prayed thanks for the veterans today at 11:00 a.m. on 11/11, just like people used to do for the original Armistice Day celebration.

Foxrac :ty: for this thread.

I would also like to say thank you to all the veterans that have served.

Thank you Reba for serving and protecting our country!

TCS was able to attend a veterans appreciation day at our church's school today. He said it was a very good program that was put on by the elementary students. At the end, they had all the veterans line up, and the students passed by and shook hands with each one, and saying, "thank you for your service." The oldest veteran was from WWII, and he was in a wheelchair. Some of the other veterans wore their uniforms.

Many of the schools in our area had special programs for the veterans today. Yesterday and today were parades and ceremonies.

Ah, Vietnam and Cold War eras. Almost the same years as I did (1970-1995). We must be about the same age. :)

Yup and Gulf War too, my father went to South Korea, Japan and Philippine during military career.

My father's last base, prior to retirement - Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, so I went there last year with my parent. It is nice and big base.
