verbal abuse

There's all kinds of abuse -- physical, verbal, and as well as emotional. All of them sucks. Unfortunately every one of use do suffer from verbal abuse. Salesmen get verbal abuse, telemarketers get verbal abuse from frustrated people, everyone!! So in theory I think people are overreacting to that stuff...

However, IMO, the real troublesome abuse are both physical and emotional. It's not easy to get away from either one, but the victim can leave anytime, but usually the one problem holding them from doing that is the emotional abuse.

I just think we need to focus more on that emotional abuse. It hurts. I have to abmit that I was a victim of that and the only way I escaped it was when I stayed behind (at that time) temporarily to prepare for health reasons while the abuser moved further away. Occasionally he still contacts me but I have developed the mentality to not to get into that cycle again.

I wonder if there are articles about that....

Hmmm I thought verbal abuse and emotional abuse are the same because they are caused by a person who hurts your feelings and stuff like that, you know? well maybe there's more to it, I suppose...

I would say so! Too many kids using verbal abuse! :mad2: Time to tape their mouth shut.

I agree totally! Its like saying His name in vain...right?

i disagree -- saying "OMG" isnt like saying God in vain (it could mean either God or Gosh however way ppl would perceive it) -- its more of a shock kind of response -- like if someone said something excitedly like "GUESS WHAT qq i got this AWESOME (whatever)" the response i would more likely say first would be "OMG!!!! thats so KEWL! when did u get (whatever) qq"

i consider the word that would be insulting God's name in vain would be "Goddammit" -- i got slapped in the face for it once when i was a kid -- asked mom why she do that for qq she said "for using the word in God's name in vain!" (i dont use the word at all since the face slap i got from mom)

as for verbal abuse -- that happens ALL the time IMO -- like Sweet KJ had said, it happens with telemarketers and etc etc -- it also happens in domestic situations which DOES indeed hurt more than anything else

In ways they're similiar.... but emotional abuse can be caused by the abuser's action or careful use of words that may be undedectable by others -- verbal abuse is more harsher in vocabulary like "Shut your mouth!" Emotional takes a long time to develop, and the victim is really the only one who knows it. Other may see a change of attitude, self-esteem in that victim. And in a lot of cases, the abuser isn't aware of what's going on because it's manipulative.

It is kinda difficult to explain.... but I hope you get a gist of it.

:werd: ....I agree FlyFree, Exectly the way I see it....as I have said ' OMG ' a couple of times over something shocking , excited or etc....and still it not insult to God unless using other terms of words to add after God or Before in an insulting way IMO!...
