Unemployment in the Deaf Community

I don't like labor work at all. i rather work in a office or something like that. But it may be because I am a woman.

Define "ALWAYS"? I had to disagree with the term "Always" because I am DEAD Deaf and I got few opportunities in the past and now.

I would agree to term "Limited" opportunity instead.

Hence SSI for them. The deaf has ALWAYS been denied an opportunity to work in the workplace even if they could be easily accommodated.

Artifically high? I had to disagree because here where I live has at least 10% population that are Deaf and HoH, guess what? The places I went, I only see 0 to 2 Deafies in factories, Department stores, etc, where are the rest Deafies? I don't see much, so this made sense why 90% seems to be reasonable for Deaf unemployment.

My last factory job had 1,100 employees, only 6 Deafies works there, do the math. Another job before that has about 485 employees, only one and that is me is Deaf, again do the math.

Show me the number of Deafies that works at following

Police
Firemen
EMT
Political offices
Professional Sports
Actors (Of course there is few, but out of thousands... Do the math again)
More to list

How did they come up with these figures? In the USA they do it by the number of unemployment checks issued. (I know, that is stupid, because when the unemployment checks run out, it is assumed that the person is employed again.) From what I have personally seen, those figures seem artificially high.

I'm not surprised. No matter what kind of degree we get, the one thing that many employers expect is... "Can you use a phone?"

Nowadays, everything is done over the phone.
