ummieee, i need your help with try to remember one movie based on true story

Last monday me and other 3 friends were talking about movie that was based on true story.. We all tried to remember what the name of the movie it is...

A family moved into a duplex that have been haunted with devil a parent with I think 2 or 3 little kids.

*When they moved in, and trying to repair the house, they saw big curvy V in blood, they tried to paint it like 3 or 4 times but the blood kept on re-appearing, so they got fed up put up on wallpaper and it didn't come back on.

*The devil even followed them to their camping trip, and totally ruined it.

*when they came home, they saw black ghosts spinning in room upstairs through the window when they drove into driveway, and then wnet in room, everything was trashed.

*drawers kept on open and close.

*they tried holy water but it didn't help.

*when a lady was home alone, the devil in black robe, and face was black came close to woman and confronted at her.

*the bad spirit runied x-mas for the family.

At end of the movie they finally moved out and the devil stopped following them.

Thats all I could remember. I saw that movie when I was only 9 years old, and the big curvy "V" still spook me, and sometimes I get bad nightmare about it.
 
I'm sorry I cannot help you with the name of the movie, That movie doesn't sound familiar. Was it on Lifetime?

Fly Free here -- sounds like "The Amtitysville Horror" to me -- would the movie's setting be in NY at a house that was once owned by the DeFeo family qq
 
I was thinking the same thing.. the Amytity(sp) Horror movie.. that was based on a true story..
 
There wasn't any camping in that story. It all happened in a month and they never left the house during that time.

They made a newer version of the movie recently.

I am not sure if it was amitysville horror but it was on cable, I saw that movie about 13 yrs ago, and I will have to rent Amitysville horror movies to see if eitrher me/my friends were right or Cheri was right.. I will have to go to blockbuster sometimes this week, hopefully altough I have stacks of DVDs that I bought but haven't watched yet due to busy schedule. I am thinking about buying Amitysville horror at walmart but I know walmart doesn't carry movies or games or CDs with nasty words.
 
I think you may have talk about this movie: Poltergeist one with craig t. nelson in it?

I was thinking the same thing. But it not true story.
Maybe, The Amtitysville Horror?? It was old movie and there is remake that will coming out on DVD/VHS soon.

Were you talking about this ? Yes, it is true story. Someone killed the family at this house in 112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville Long Island, NY. My friend lives near by that house. She told me the story about the man. The movie make some of exaggerations.

This man who shoot the family. His name is Ronald DeFeo

Do you recall that actor's name on the movie? It might help narrowing the title.
 
The Defeo was murdered by the eldest Son Ronald Butch Defeo. In the movie was about the Lutz family move to the house 11 months after murdered. They have no idea about murdered and they said it was haunted. It may base on true story or hoax about Lutz family.
 
Neverthless, it was scary. True or not, it still scared the living crap outta me when I was young. :)
