It seems that you also have an interest in this sort of thing, RedFox. Pomeranian has a boy who is a dinosaur freak and he keeps me on my toes with the latest updates, lol.
This is fascinating stuff, I think. This find was located about a hundred kilometers soth of Ciaro, specifically in Foyoum. "Wadi Hitan" literally means "Valley of the Whales", so it's not on a city you would find on a map (I tried). It used to be called "Wadi Zeuglodon", but they changed it. The coordinates are N 29 17'49.2" E 30 3'31.9"
That whole area would have been quite different during the span of the last glaciation as well. Climates shifts and rain falls in places where they don't today, and it quite a bit wetter in the MidEast at that time, though ocean levels were lower and the mediterranean was pretty much cut off from any reasonable water exchange with the Altlantic ocean. Also, recall that the southwestern US would have had a climate very similar to what is now found in Washington, Oregon, and BC---wet and warm--not the arid landscapes that we find there today.
And as for the fabled "flood"...I dunno .No one was there, lol. Asia has an extensive recorded history and there is no mention of any "flood" of this magnitude.
Anyway, RefFox, it is neat that you seem knowledgeable about this matter and if you find any cool dinosaur site for a certain eight year old boy, post it!
