Education is a step, but it takes more than knowing about drugs. Many people know about drugs, and the harm they cause, but they become addicted, anyway. What is needed is better access to mental health care, and a better understanding of what these people go through in their daily lives. Many times, a person is addicted to substances because, they are trying to numb out unbearable pain or trying to forget. Until we adequately address the underlying causes of addiction, it will continue.

Exactly, my sister had been through. She is addicted to kind of drugs. The drugs destory her family life. :(

She need help but she refuse. I was mad with my Dad for pull her out of mental hospitail dozen of times. I told him off to let her stay there and need professional help because she deserve it with better hand than us.

I vote: Treat it as a medical problem.

It is terrible out there. I have watched many kids turned into tweeters. They steal and lie to support their habits. I vote other solution cuz I don't see lock them up and rehabition will solve the problems. It has beenhere since early 80's. We have drug awareness program at schools but kids still do them. Meth is everywhere here in this area, used to be number one in the nation but now we have more law officers to bust them. Kids learn how to make them, it is so easy to make them. Parents need to be aware of what the products in the house kids can make it in their own home.

When you have a teenager in your home, u need to make sure they don't use your laundry soap and few stuffs around the house.

Truly sad.

Some people don't listen, no matter how you educate them. Just like smoking...some people will not quit until you show them pictures of lungs. One of my things is to show before/after pictures so people can see what Meth does to them:

Taylor? All those pictures from using meth? Is that what happened to their faces?

Yes, Taylor.

It's very sad because I compare the previous and present photos of my mother and sister like what you add here, Taylor :ugh2:

Yes, drugs and aclohic destory their healthy and looks. I'm agree that it's very hard for them to get the help because most are subborn and refuse to get the help.

crystal meth or other wise known as ICE here on this island ( hawaii also) thier doing HEAVY crackdown on that and now we have stricter medical distrubtion and higher security now around the RX stores here... thank god cuz thier deffy going heavy on them and fast too! Dog Chapman's son is in prison for the ice distrubtion got 18 yrs he'll be out in abt 5 i think he's already served some time so far. and dog said this Ice is the deadliest killer that wrecks familes. So i would Deffy advocate one thing. get the dealers off the streeets make them do time, get the abusers ( the addictions) in rehab and clean up thier life, my partner is an ex ice user and shes been sober for 3 yrs now and is staying this way, im so proud of her and so happy shes on the wagon and very mature enuff to know when no is no, and shes only 24 and that can mean alot to many poeple!
