Trying to Learn ASL

Hello. ^.^ I'm hearing, but I'm trying to learn ASL and more about the deaf community for two reasons: one is so that I can talk to my deaf friend, and also one of the characters in a book I am writing is deaf, and I want more insight on the deaf community/culture.

If I ever make any mistakes or say something offensive, please correct me right away. I'm really particular on being polite, so I want to learn the right things to say.
 
That's awesome that u want to learn ASL i am late deafened and am starting ASL next year :) i've been into deaf culture since i started losing my hearing 4 years ago

good luck and im sure if u make a lil mistake u'll prolly be corrected:P but thats the learning process:) welcome to AD
 
Welcome to all deaf. The best thing would to take an ASL class. I've learned a monumental amount of information, not only sign language, but culture etc. Feel free to shoot me a message.
