Troy

Yesterday, I watched the film, Troy and ended up VERY disappointed with the film. :thumbd:

What in the world were these directors thinking when they picked Brad Pitt out for the role of Archilles??!!!

I personally think that Clive Owen (my latest crush) or Joaquin Phoenix would be more suitable for that role. Clive Owen was AWESOME in King Arthur. I really loved that film, King Arthur. *heart beating loudly at mention of Clive's name*

I found myself laughing when I saw Pitt trying so hard to look serious. He was never really in the role mentally and emotionally.

I found it sad that they had to waste such good plot. It was too stilled and it lacked chemistry among costars, etc.

Your opinions? Maybe Im too hard on Brad Pitt????

I guess it is because men love action and bloody violence ;)

I thought King Arthur was way better as I watched both films yesterday.

Guess I just cant get used to Brad Pitt in such roles.

I like the movie, but Paris suppose to die, too. They
waste to much time with Achilles. I didn't
know Odsesey was in the movie until the end.

I found it a bit confusing with Achilles - couldnt tell whether he is truly a bad or good guy? I found myself rooting for Hector.

Also, I was confused about the big horse. I thought they used the horse to ram down the doors? I didnt know that men hid in the horse to get inside the fort. And why was Achilles in the horse? Thought he was on Trojan side but why help the Greeks destroy Troy??

Achilles is a Greek. Well, not really. His birthplace and ancestry place him in the Greek side of the conflict, but he is not a Greek at heart. He allows the King to order him around because he loves fighting -- he was raised and trained for WAR. Peace is essentially not a part of his nature.

He fought against Troy until something stopped him from wanting to fight anymore. (I don't recall reading if it was a woman who broke his will to fight -- I think that was something that the movie writers made up) Then his cousin is killed and that enrages him to fight on again, killing Hector of Troy.

The horse always was a present left from the Greeks which the Trojans brought into their city and worshipped / celebrated. Keep in mind, the Trojans revere horses -- that's what brought them to prosperity. The Greeks inside then opened the gates and in flooded the enemy.

I could have sworn that Achilles was killed before that final battle, though.

Paris never died -- he successfully escaped with Helen. The tales never addressed what happened to them after that.

As for the quality of the movie, not bad, a bit of writer's discretion was taken because women were never really a big part of the tale, other than Helen herself. Accurate on the major points, though I just don't recall Achilles being there at the end. It was a major drag between the death of Achilles and the Trojan Horse part because there weren't any other major heros and other exciting battles happening.

I can better movie than that...

Could have cut out the sex part and Brad Pitt needs a shirt...
I don't care if he has six pack and nice chest.
Achilles doesn't even look tough.

And there were too many talking in the movie.

Then they would have time to show what happen
to Helen and Paris, ain't they the reason the war started in the first place?

my brother has that movie and he thought it was absloutely great...one of the greatest films of 2004 or something like that.

even though I don't really think Brad Pitt was a great actor, but still, the story was pretty good and all, even orlando bloom was cool in it. (the same dude who was the elf in "lord of the rings" trigoly)

Yeah I thought Orlando Bloom was a wimp.... when he lost the first time,
then wow, he is good at bow and arrow. But why he has to kill
Achilles....
I thought it was even, cause Hector killed his cousin and He killed Hector.
But oh well.

This was one of the open-captioned movies at the drive-in theater last September. That's where I saw it. Boy, it looks great on the big big screen! :)

Do you know if they plan on showing any more movies at that theater? I was so bummed when I read an article in the newspaper THE DAY AFTER.

I was hoping for a new epic. I hated this flick. It was an "Look at me!, I'm Brad Pitt" movie.

:thumbd:

However, I did like the first kill in the very begining where he leaped at the huge guy and stabbed him downward between the neck the shoulder. Downhill after that.

They hope to do it again next year around the same time as recently. Be sure to keep an eye out about it. I did announce it here in AllDeaf. Perhaps, I'll announce it again. :)

I wasn't impressed by the movie itself either. But Graphics is great...story line. ugh okay okay. so so ... My hubby liked the movie. probably from all those fightings...whatsoever :greddy:

I admit that I wish Brad Pitt doesn't play as Achilles in "Troy". Kinda conflict and not right to see him play in. Feel like he's too hunky in that movie. Also, I feel something bother me about the mother of Hector/Paris not there. What's up with her?

In real life, Brad Pitt's father in law is Greek.

you ever hear of the trojan virus that infects computers ?

why do you think its called a "trojan" virus? (thats what the horse is called that goes into the fort)

a trojan virus is a virus that is called something like "Picture of my friend" but its not a picture, its actually a virus pretending to be something else to get in and then it opens up and destroys your computer.

Achilles was in the horse so that he could run and try to save the girl that he fell in love with. not to destroy the trojans.

I am so sorry but When i see Brad pitt playing for Troy... reminds me he needs to act for Trojan Condoms? since he s too hunky and sex symbol?
