To Avoid a New Year's Day Hangover, Drink Plenty (of Water)

*looking on my desk* Is Diet Pespi ok as drinking? :giggle:

Great advice, PeachyLady, but I think it came too late for Beowulf. Tomorrow we will be hearing his moanings and groanings from his massive hangover and asking around if he did anything stupid ;) Lets scare him and tell him that he sent us a video of him streaking outside in his birthday suit.

Or tell him that one of ADer saw him and sent us a video of him for all of us to see! lol Hope at least some ADers followed the advice to drink water but I realized I should have posted it earlier.

Of course, I always drink water. That's why I never get hangovers! :thumb:

That's great. I myself didn't know that drinking lots of water helped avoid hangovers until I recently read about it. Now that you did it, it's a proof that it does work!

<-- drank 2 mug of black coffee and waited for 2 hours at friend's place and drove home as I mentioned in another thread...

Yes, it really works. It also slows down the process of the alcohol and keeps you from becoming dehydrated from alcohol. The best way to drink water and alcohol is one serving between each other.

Follow these steps in order when drinking...
  1. Drink a cup of water.
  2. Drink one serving of alcohol (one bottle/cup of beer, one shot of hard alcohol, one glass of wine).
  3. Repeat #1.

I remembered I drank at a bar with my friend about 10 or 11 yrs ago and I was drinking a lot of mixed drinks and felt so sick the next morning couldn't drink anything or eat anything. I kept throwing up numeric of times and got a fever and still went to work and feeling like crap. Then after work I Couldn't handle it so I went to the hospital ER room they said I had alcohol poison, and told me it was very serious could have died from it. that's when I quit drinking.

Did it help? From what I read, coffee makes it more dehydrated plus the effect of dehydration from alcohol. Need to fill up water.

Yeah I can understand not wanting to drink water between drinking smile...but at least it helps not being dehydrated and hangover.

Yep I haven't drank that much in my life before until that night at the bar. I drank so much lost count. I did not remember leaving the bar I woke up seeing myself on a couch at my friend's house throwing up on myself, In the morning I didn't want to go to work, I called my dad and he told me I had to come in because nobody would fill in for me. I had no choice to go in work I felt so sick to my stomach the whole day I couldn't stay awake. I looked so pale that day too didn't look like my own self, had fever the whole day at work and I don't know if I had a hangover more likey it was my stomach that was bothering me more. So then I asked my dad if I could leave early because I couldn't be around food it was just making me sick even more that when I went to the ER in the hospital.

Another thing, When my friend woke me up in the morning, I was naked only had on was my underwear. I freaked out wondering how did I end up like that? My friend told me she had to take my clothes off because I kept vomiting on myself while sleeping I don't even remembered vomiting on myself while sleeping. I had some on my hair too it was eeek! She was much a good friend spend half of her night taking care of me.

wow.. you crazy!!! mixing them all .. yikes!!!
it happened to me when i was 16 and had my first DRINK(s).. my sister's old best friend's ex bf had a party.. and he was a bar tender at the party as well... he kept giving me different drinks to sample, etc.. (they were all 23 at the time!).. i came home to my sister's apt.. woke up around 4 am ... :barf: alll over her bathroom while sitting on the porcelain as it was coming out of that hole too lol ... i was SOOO SICK (like cheri).. screaming for my sister and woke her up while sitting on the porcelain of god.. i was like OH GOD HELP ME I AM SOOOO DAMN SICK.. IT DAMN HURTS!! BLAH BLAH.. she freaked out.. and said.. OMG. I GOTTA CALL THE DAMN AMBULANCE!! she was white and scared like a ghost!! i said NO.. JUST HELP ME blah blah.. and kept puking.. she was just as STIFF AND COLD AS A ZOMBIE (remember i am her baby sister) finally about 2 hours later.. i got off of the porcelain.. left the bathroom.. guess what my sister did.. CLOSED THE DAMN DOOR telling me my mom will clean it up when she visited in a few hours.. lol
then i think around 11 or so.. my mom came to take us out.. when she saw me.. she was LIKE :squint: WHAT DID YOU DO?? (i looked shit and felt like shit from a MAJOR HANGOVER) so my sister told her what happened.. and showed her the bathroom.. she was like.. OH I HAVE TO CLEAN THAT UP?? with a sly smile and a snicker... my sister was like  YEA?? LOL she was a GREAT SPORT ABOUT IT.. CLEANED IT UP FOR US!! LOL..

Yes, drinking more alcohol only helps resolve that dehydration. Coffee is the same thing. That's why people drink coffee cuz they have this assumption that it will make them feel better, when it does... by stopping the dehydration for a little bit. Drinking water will not make you dehydrated and helps you last longer. :thumb:
