Tick Bite Allergy

I was bitten by a tick last Thursday night and woke up Friday morning to massive swelling all over. I couldn't open my eyes or move my joints. I thought I was losing it and couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I was so out of it that I went to work but everyone gasped at my face ...........guess that it was too early to be Frankenstein Bride for Halloween. LOL

So I went in to see my doctor. Turned out that I had a severe allergic reaction to the tick bite. The dr found a bite mark on my elbow.

They immediately pumped me with tons of steroids. Talk about being superaggressive and superparanoid!!!! I was totally out of it for 4 days. It is getting better today though.

This is very unusual .............anyone had this before? I sure hope that the tick isnt going to affect my immune system like with Lymes or whatnot. :(

Oh my goodness Meg, I am sorry that you got bite by a tick, I never got bite by a tick thanks God I might panic big time. Ticks just freak me out. I hope you don't get any disease from the tick bite, I'll be real sad.:( What did the Doctor say? is it possible to get a disease from the tick bite that you had? How far did the tick go inside of your body?

Oh my god! I am glad you got the immediately injections from doctor to treat the tick bites. It is painful and it is dangerous for people, ecspecially kids.

I am glad you are okay, Meg...

wow, ouch meg... I hope it won't have to happen with you next time.

Cheri... of ALL those years, you've NEVER been bitten by tick?! oh man!

Living up here in Wisconsin close to woods, its very common to get ticks... I was bitten total of umm 5 times alone this year and saw more crawling on me... and only head, I repeat only head goes in... not its body. The head only digs in to get blood from you. Whenever I had head inside me, I just simply pluck it off and check if it got head... you gotta pluck it correctly or the head would still be in you (not good). I never had lyme disease as of yet... lucky me! Bleh at ticks! grrr grr!!! :nana: I ain't gonna get lyme disease!

lol I didn't say the word "never" or did I? I am mainly saying that I'm HOPING I don't get it ;) ya dig? hehe

On additional note, I said never as of YET!!!! :nana: pay more attention hehe

Oh my dear, I know what it´s alike since it was affected on my hubby at 5 years ago.

It´s great that your doctor discovered quickly to save your risk life.

Cheri,
It take 10 days to notice that your inside body change. It would be bad if it´s too late for you to find out that tick is inside your body 10 days later after tick bite.

It took tick few days dive into your body.

here´s link, then you will see the information from 1st to end of 3rd pages.

Liebling,

But how do I know if it will affect my immune system? You say it takes ten days...can you clarify that?

The doctors will find out through blood test.

You will know more when you read my link.

No, you will never notice when tick come to your head or back or whatever. It would be great when you notice tick on your arm or whatever then you can rid of them quickly with the help from doctor. You will receive treatment real quickly and save risk...

After 10 day, then it´s so bad if it´s too late for you to notice..

You will notice that your body change like... tiring, headache, fever, usw.. Read my link...

What you did is very lucky... You received the treatment from your doctor real quickly...

It would be more safety when your doctor give you a blood test to see if you has lyme diease in your body.
I hope that your doctor give you a blood test for the safety.

Yep, Never did, If I am going to walk through a park I would put "bug spray" to keep bugs off of me while walking in the park, always wear my shoes outside too, I tell my kids to be careful while playing with dirts because, never know ticks eeek.. Cannot stand those ugly bugs..

True, It never affect me and my children... ***knock on the wood***

I do the same with my children like what you did with your children. It´s safety since happened to my hubby at 5 years ago.

I alway make sure ticks are around when I check my children´s and cats.

OMG! This reminds me of something I saw out of Ticks movie!

Oh my goodness Meg, I'm so glad to hear you're ok now, that must be scary too, I was wondering if you took a picture of it and were you at that time aware that you were biten by a tick or is it when you went to the doctor and found out for the first time?....Also I'm curious were you able to see a tick sucking your elbow?, or was it too small to see or tell?...

Forgive me for all the questions, I've never saw anyone who was biten by a tick and just very curious to know how it felt at that time, and if you had notice you've been biten by one...

I haven't got biten by a tick yet and I have been checking on my children and myself to be sure we haven't gotten biten by one...so far it has been safe... ;)

I also have a allergy to ticks that I just found out about. 3 days ago I was bit by a tick at the base of my head on my neck . With in 15 mins I got horrible hives and started getting dizzy and my shoulders and neck felt like they were on fire. I immediately took 100 mg benadryl and then another 50 mg during the night . Ive been on benadryl since and still have the hives and dizziness although not quites as bad. I was told it wiil be a few days before they go away.
