A lot is going in my mind over this, but basically, I think he wants to save money. That or he just hates the hassle of going to hospital. He may live far, very far away from hospital.
Maybe he works or worked in a medical field?but...begs a question , how does he does this? let along what materials to get, how much flow is required..he must be REALLY smart....pretty scary...

Not so much just owning a Bible but certainly it's dangerous to have unauthorized church meetings. Nevertheless, the underground Christian church movement is active there.yes quite likely, but still very dangerous to do that, even having a christian bible could get you into serious trouble, even shot, just there must be some very tight 'relationships' out there, i mean underworld sort of thing, not drugs, i mean basic necessities to obtain rationed around away from hawking eyes of corrupted officals

Two Words for you....
Black Market !
You all made me curious... So I texted my dad, who lives in Shanghai China. He's in Pudong, the "nice business/rich area" and he's taken care of like an expat... But this is what he said...
"Chinese health care is primitive by western standards for the majority of the country."
"Shanghai is their top technical and financial city and I have the best available care with western clinics. But they would fly me to Hong Kong if I needed surgery for anything."
(RE: state funded healthcare)"China is starting to develop a reasonable hospital and clinic system ... But far below western standards"
"The average person in china makes 1/6 ~ 1/5 someone in the USA with many millions living in poverty. So DIY dialysis is probable accurate ... Make it work or die."
So I definitely think that photo is realistic... He avoided answering the question about if people die because of lack of health care. It's mostly for the rich people and expats (Pudong has mostly foreigners and rich Chinese families... A watch he saw yesterday in his area was $71,000 and he put it on his christmas list lol). I do know that statistically the live expectancy and morbidity rate is MUCH lower in china than other countries.
Blame on who? Greedy corporations outsourcing American jobs for cheap Chinese labor. thus end up Chinese worked f'kin hard and earn small pay which likely won't cover much of higher cost of living standards. Sad, I think your statement is more accurate.
I agree BUT it's a mix of American companies abusing cheap labor AND a different culture they grew up with. The culture difference is one thing people overlook when they look at living conditions. We make 5-6 times more in the US but our homes and foods are also 5-6 times more expensive. When we went out to eat over there we fed 5 people WELL for $10... Even in the US each state has a different minimum wage... But some states have cheaper housing because of that.
Pay and cost of living isn't as important when you try to reach a conclusion about what life is like when compared to how the country cares for its people with labor laws and health care. Also consider though that these people are living STACKED in 50+ floor apartments. They're only allowed one child before they are taxed huge amounts for the second child. It's not fair but it's understandable that for that volume of people sometimes its Darwinism and population control. Population is one of the biggest problems they face.
Yeah, greedy corporation isn't exclusively, we the Americans have appetite for cheap stuff.
I think China are still better off than Africa countries where there isn't much medical care there and most are undereducated. China is very educated at their standard, and their education is much better than here. Image all kids have spent much more time in school, less summer vacation time than USA kids, they are smarter than us.
