I missed the speech but I can guess how it went.

"We are making prgress in the war on terror, stay the course etc. etc..."

Actually, it was more like "We must not falter in our promise to the world or second guess why we are even in Iraq, blah blah blah. Oh, and Iran, you're fracking next!"

Richard,

I concur, but don't expect Heath to agree with us!

By the way, did you hear the part where Bush said our economy is good? Makes me wonder if we're all reading the same newspaper and listening to the same Federal Reserve he is, huh?

I assure you, we're not reading the same newspaper and listening to the same Federal Reserve that he is. Bush has publically stated in the past that he doesn't pay attention to the news or read newspapers.

You kind of remind me of Condoleeza Rice. Heath reminds me of Karl Rove. Pek reminds me of the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Heh.

Karl Rove?

I would have gone into combat if I was drafted and did my American Duty.

Vietnam War and the draft

In December 1969, the Selective Service System held its first lottery drawing. Those born on December 25th, like Rove, received number 84. That number placed him in the middle of those (with numbers 1 [first priority] through 195) who would eventually be drafted. On February 17, 1970, Rove was reclassified as 2-S, a deferment from the draft because of his enrollment at the University of Utah in the fall of 1969. He maintained this deferment until Dec. 14, 1971, despite being only a part-time student in the autumn and spring quarters of 1971 (registered for between six and 12 credit hours) and dropping out of the university in June of 1971. (Rove was a student at the University of Maryland in College Park in the fall of 1971; as such, he would have been eligible for 2-S status, but registrar's records show that he withdrew from classes during the first half of the semester.) In December 1971 he was reclassified as 1-A. On April 27, 1972, he was reclassified as 1-H, or "not currently subject to processing for induction," a classification given to four million young men between January and August 1972, as the Vietnam War wound down. The draft ended on June 30, 1973.

Lawmaker's wife told to leave during State of the Union speech

Cindy Sheehan isn't the only person to get in trouble yesterday. I think that some folks are getting too particular with what is 'allowable'. It's getting ridiculous. Any worse and they may as well come out and censor EVERYONE who doesn't agree with President B*S*. :pissed:

Lawmaker's wife told to leave during Bush speech
Wed Feb 1, 1:33 PM ET

The wife of a senior House of Representatives Republican was told to leave the House chamber during President George W. Bush's State of the Union speech for wearing a shirt bearing words of support for U.S. troops.

"Shame, shame," Rep. Bill Young of Florida said on the House floor on Wednesday, condemning the treatment of his wife Beverly by the U.S. Capitol Police.

"She was ordered to leave the gallery, because she was doing ... what the president said we should all do," Young said. "She had on this shirt. A very conservative shirt, long sleeves, high neck, but it says support our troops."

Also on Tuesday night anti-Iraq war activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested in one of the House galleries before the speech after she refused to cover up an anti-war slogan on her shirt.

Young, who chairs the House Appropriations defence subcommittee, said his wife "supports our troops on every day, every hour," visiting wounded soldiers at military hospitals and helping their families.

Young said a guard at the House chamber called her "a demonstrator and a protester."

Her shirt said "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom."

A U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman said the matter was still under investigation, and declined to comment further.

I think President Bush did not want any political statements of any sort during a very important speech The State of the Union Address. That may be why.

Doesn't the Bush family own an oil company or something?
Bush stole oil from Iraqi to make more oil so thats why alot of oil companies were shut down in Iraqi.

LOL. It wasn't exactly anything, not a compliment nor an insult, but hey, if I brighten your day, great. ;)

By the way, I may go to an Al Sharpton presentation this Wednesday. I may have to cancel because I have so many obligations, but if I can go it'll be great to listen to the guy live!
