If Myspace wasn't enough of a scare for parents there is a new site that is just like it now it's WWW.Mycrib.net If you look at this site it is identical to Myspace with a different name please be careful and make sure your kids arn't in danger

I know your concern. When I first heard about it, I thought this site must be concerning for parents. In a few weeks, I decided to check it out to see what it really was about because in the News, they did a research on this one girl about how easy it is to find someone based on the info she provided. The girl was surprised and scared. I went searching all the people from my high school and younger kids in my family to see how searchable they are. It's unbealievable the amount of people that I have known are there and all the information you can know about them. When I showed my mom my two younger cousin's website, she got real nervous. She one of my cousin's mom out of concern because she included not only her last name and first name, but her middle name, school name, location that she lives and her picture! Any weirdo can check out anyone's site. If I could find hers, so can anyone. My cousin is, unfortunately, not concerned and very stubborn to care about her parent concern. I think it's pressure from her friends. We know she is not into talking to strangers, but our fear is that anyone could look at my cousin's site. They only have Privacy Settings for the young audiences, which is so ridiculous. My cousin thought she had set her site to private.

I have a feeling that this place, if anything happens to someone, they could get sued. They do talk about safety concerns and how to protect yourself, but that's not what the site is about. Their site is about sharing all of your information and leaving it public. With all the pressure from friends, people will make a site.

Also, parents cannot force their kids to take out the site if they wanted. You have to work with your kid to take the site out like that site explains. Isn't that crazy?

People should not make money off children or to defy the parent's authority when the parents are clearly protecting their children from strangers who will hurt them. Sometimes I wonder if websites like that , myspace and mycrib. I wonder if the people who own and set up these websites really care about the children because they are married and have a family of their own and they only care about their kids and not 5 million of another kids with a website that big really carries very serious responsiblites which obivously they don't care and they pretend to care with a thin veiled attempt at caring about the safety of the children. I mean it is sick. I am sure they are doing a good thing with the myspace but are their intentions really good intentions and they are not taking the responsiblity more seriously in that of protecting the kids and listening to the parent's wishes and the needs in order to protect the kids.

I think what could be a good solution would be if the schools all over the country would only have a website like myspace.com .... but it is really protected because a student has to be registered in order to log on to a secure website and then the parents who have their children registered on the website straight from the school district where they live have more control over what their kids do or who they meet and the strangers can't access the website at all because it is really protected through the school system you know what I mean ? then the kids can chat with 5 million another kids with everything from their social life to their educational homework and there are live specialists who are licensed teachers that can talk to them about homework questions and things like that. It is like having a super-school system you know what I mean and the best feature of that website run by the schools would be that no stranger can't access the website. A student has to be in school in order to access the website. I think that would really cut down on the horrible on-line sex crimes that we hear daily in the t.v. newspapers etc. Of course that website would be equipped with the latest in anti-hacking technology and things like that which would be way alots better than myspace.com or mycrib.com which is really a free market operation with abosutely no consideration or respect whatsoever for the parent's needs while at the same time protecting the children from online strangers. I think a super school with only one way to access the website is for a student and a parent is to be registered through their school district is the way to go. It would be nice to see a Conservative website where kids can be raised in a proper conservative environment through the internet website then someday when I get married and have kids then my kids can go online and I can use the monitor feature to check my children's online progress etc.

Spying on your future kids is not the answer, Heath. Don't jeopardize your kids privacy while they're on line. Have alittle trust, otherwise you'll lose your kids's trust. You got to sit down and discuss the rules for online safety with them.

Some forums (like SafeSearching) won't allow anyone to talk about Myspace because it is full of scammers.

One problem with this: PARENTS DON'T ALWAYS CARE. You can't control other parents either.

School systems are pathetic. They treat the good kids like criminals and the bad kids like they're perfect.

While you're at it, how about solitary confinement, too?

Seriously, Heath, your big plans will never work out. Not all parents do care, and if you monitor your kids on-line like a sentry, you're going to end up with kids that will never want to see you again. Nobody likes being treated like a stupid person or a criminal.

I trust the kids, the problem is that it is more of what lays with what they will say online and unknowningly give information that could end up hurting my kids when I get married and have kids. I will sit them down and talk to them and I do have the right to monitor my kid's doings on the internet so that he or she stays 100% safe.

BLING BLING!

That's correct! My dad did that to my sister and I, Guess what? We were 34 years old during that time. What the hell?!

You trust the kids? you never know if they will sneak or hide from parents how can the kids sneak without the parents know? it is hard to see if the kids sneak or hide or else.

That's why it is important to have an open communication skills with your kids, Discussing with your kids about dangerous online, drugs, drinking, sex, and etc. You know kids always are open for experiments, They would want to try things that they've never tried before, but it's very important to discuss the important steps what can happen when they do experiments, and have them to trust their instincts. If you help kids understand, they will listen, If you're gotta spy on your kids, shouting in anger at your kids, They're not gotta listen. You'll be pushing your own kids far away as possible from you. :)

Obivously , that is not good but if she is 18 or 20 years old then give some good advice and guidance. When she is 34 yr old. If she has questions she can come ask me because she knows she will get some good advice.

I rather stick with MYSPACE because I'm tired of people changing different website such as RINGO, Hi5 or Friendster... So this one MY SPACE is good enough!

Anyone under 18 does NOT belong on Myspace.com or Mycrib.com or any such sites, period.

Then how come teenagers from age 12 to 18 have been kidnapped, murdered, raped, etc by meeting strangers on Myspace.com? :dunno:

That is why I said they do not belong on those sites...it is dangerous. They should not be on those sites.

If I had kids of my own I would NOT permit them to be on Myspace.com or Mycrib.com or any other such sites.
