lol!!! You're so cute when you're pretending to be shocked when you know it's not true

I'll let my reputation speaks for itself :cool2:

How do you explain this then???

:hmm: Could it be possible to like people....even love people....yet disagree with their lifestyle?

Could it be be possible to have views of what you believe yet believe they are not they best views for the entire country?

Is it possible to like a person or group of people yet believe something they are doing is in poor taste or insensitive?

:)

that would mean - one is very confused about himself :)

Editor, writer (print and broadcast, news and feature), photojournalist, media relations, etc. :)

That's for professional writers who get paid for their work.

I can't imagine how few posts would be left on AD if they had to be held to journalistic standards!
I don't know about that. With the quality of journalism I've seen lately, probably most AD posts would be fine.

there are many who do not get paid to work... like blogger.

examples - wishy-washy person. uncertain leader.

my stance is definite on any issue. I don't tip-toe around it.

So then, would it be possible to hold a firm opinion that someone's lifestyle is wrong and still like that person???

Would it be possible to firmly believe that what someone is doing is in poor taste and still like that person??

for example - why would you be friend with a gay person if you believe homosexual is wrong and against your religion? If you're still friend with a gay person - it's most likely because of past history (old friend or family member).

why would you be friend with a man who believes hitting women is ok because "it's what they do in his country"? If you're still friend with a man who hits women - it's most likely because of past history (old friend or family member).

hence..... a confused person..... like..... a hero complex :)

The new way is to stop posting. It's the new cool. (not directed towards you)

You didn't answer the question.... No biggie.

I am usually friends with someone because I enjoy their company....they make me laugh.... we share some interests (though not all) ect. ect. ect.

No confusion necessary....

That is a toughie...

It would be hard not to let one's beliefs interfere with one's friendship with the other person. I dont think I could be friends with people who are involved with the KKK or believe in that stuff.

The only people that I can immediately think of that are like that are either mentally incapacitated or are Amish.. humm

what question is that?

ah... here's a prime difference. I'm not talking about some trivial difference. I'm talking about the very core difference.

You as a car man being friend with a motorcycle man. A PC guy being friend with Apple guy. A football fan being friend with a soccer fan. That's a trivial difference in interest.

The core difference? A white friend who likes everybody being friend with a friend who is a member of Klu Klux Klan/anti-semitic group. A PETA member being friend with friend who butchers live animals for living. Now that's a serious difference of interest.

I'll tell you what's more cowardly and insidious - someone who expresses their hate while talking on tightrope to avoid being called as racist, bigot, homophobic, xenophobic, and/or hater.

If you don't like homosexual people - then SAY IT! If you don't like Muslim people - then SAY IT! Why hide behind it in a very insidious way?

what question is that?

Refusing to be friends with someone and hating that person are two different things. I don't require someone to be perfect or conform to all my ideals to be my friend. That's what tolerance is for. However, there's a line beyond which I won't associate with a person because the friendship would be harmful to me. Something like homosexuality certainly does not cross that line, but beating women probably would. I would only remain friends with a woman beater if I thought I could influence him to stop although at that point, it would mostly be for the sake of the women.

Hate, on the other hand, is something I think we should avoid. Even hate for enemies who want us dead is toxic. That doesn't mean we don't do what's necessary to protect us, but it does mean our actions should be motivated by reason rather than emotion. It's an ideal that's not always easy to live up to, but it's one I've found beneficial to strive for.

precisely. there you go.

hence.... a hero complex... something that a confused person tends to have because one would try to convert him/her for something that he/she is not.... on most cases. There are people who are very homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, etc. You cannot really change them but people do try.

on most cases - yes.

How can I be friend with a member of KKK?
How can I be friend with an audist?
How can I be friend with a homophobic?

And sometimes people don't and just enjoy their friends instead :)
