But they are moving. And this is worrying NY where the greater percentage of their tax revenue base comes from rich people who live there. We're talking differences of in the millions, not a few thousand bucks.

Obama Opposite Speak and NY's 'Millionaires' Tax'

Yeah, they're gonna stay right there and take it. You're playing them to be patsies.

As for favorable tax states:

1. Wyoming
2. South Dakota
3. Nevada
4. Alaska
5. Florida
6. Montana
7. Texas
8. New Hampshire
9. Oregon
10. Delaware

Guess which top three states are the worse unfavorable tax states and are experiencing budget problems?

Yup. NJ, NY, and CA. Followed by Ohio, RI, Iowa, Vt, Neb, and Minnesota.

By the way, in a case if you don't know, Oregon is tax free.

beside kokonut, what are you worrying about? I find it surprising that you have a "concern" for heavily Democrat-controlled states like NY losing people. Afraid that the liberals will run away to your state and setting up mansion next to you?

I want to say one more thing.

Of course, if I recall correctly, those paychecks and all stuff from jobs have to be taxed in Oregon.

Of course. Income and city taxes, not to mention state taxes are collected anywhere you live. And most states with a lower income tax rate has a higher sales tax rate.

That is right. Thanks for pointed out! ;) I'm so surprise that links claimed Oregon is a rich state. No way... I knew my home state very well...

:Ohno: The horror! RUN! :run:

I know!!! Heaven forbid a wealthy busineman move in next door!!! He'll probably insist that the neighbors get rid of the junk cars in their yard. Who does he think he is? Planting flowers and getting his lawn mowed...just a big ole snob!

yep! I'm a NJ resident but I work in NY. I paid $0 for NJ income tax and $$$$$ for NY income tax :mad2: Because of that - I'm eligible for being a patronage of public libraries in NYC. It's so much better than NJ libraries because it's well-financed and well-resourced.

as I said in my post #17 - it does not matter. wherever you work, you must pay its income tax - regardless of the location of your residence.

makes you wonder how they came up with Cash-for-Clunkers program, eh? :hmm:

I have worked and lived in 2 different cities, and had to pay city taxes for both places. It isn't unusual at all.

From one of those links I read . . . I see the map of USA and there is Oregon has a white color for "10 best business tax climates".

Well, it's difficult for me to know this is a fact or not. Since I keep hearing crisis stories from local news said there is a several major problems in Oregon. The new routes for bus stations had just changed on September 8, a few weeks ago, and I still can tell some local prices had just increased more than prices in local who were dropping off slightly. I already know about some stores were just closed cos of the economy crisis. I witnessed myself and I think there were about eight or more stores had closed, and it may be more... Who knows? I also had somewhat trouble with my money and rent bills cos it's so tight... it does apply to some people who had similar problems as mine. I can list it and go on, but I got enough for real.

So . . . I don't see how Oregon has "best business tax climates" when, in fact, there is one of poor states. . . =/

All that really means is that the big businessmen, who are wealthy already, have lots and lots of tax breaks available to them so they can get even richer.

Yep. It is also requirement, if I remember. :)

That's right...it wouldn't take much for New Yourk to take a hit from the top 1% of wealthiest moving thier domicile......but you like to move the goalpost to suit your needs (spin)....whereupon you proceeded to try and verify your claim with the post that 10%of the top1%wouldwant to move.Wellhell'sbell's ...shyt hapensin agreatreccession....economies change..peoplemove...businesses fold an/or move...you expect nothing to happen during this time?
More spin. Trying to win political points out of the country's miseries Suck it up like the rest of us. We are in this together and you are trying to divide us.

Considering the fact that the wealthiest 1 percent of New Yorkers paid 41 percent of all NY state income taxes. Remember, 1 percent that paid a very big chunk of NY tax revenues. It wouldn't take much for NY to take a hit from these top 1% wealthiest people who decide to move their place of domicile or even move their businesses elsewhere.

Oh, yeah. They can and have moved their place of domicile. And they have.

It has happened when there wasn't a recession. If it saves them tons of money they'd do it. Taxing them at a time during a recession is really a dumb move to make. Looking inward in their own govt to try and eliminate any waste or fraud would be a better option.
