I personal like tax rich people 20% more than middle and low classes. that's should solve the problems. Any thoughts?

Joey I hope you understand that this is going to be very heated, dont complain when people go off on this subject because you dont like the answer.. just sayin.

they should tax for any outsourcing, and for any imports...

nope. it's not gonna solve problems. simple - find out what's causing the deficit and cut down wasteful spending. that way - we don't have to keep taxing everybody on everything.

Do you realize that tax also goes to Education?

simple - cut down something else so that more funds can go to education.

beside - if our education system is broke, taxing more on riches is not going to help. they'll just buy more fancy computers and printers without improving their broken system.

did you know donation is better than taxing? Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg donated hundreds of millions dollars for NYC and Newark schools. Can tax do that? nope!

Yes we need to tax the rich. People does not realize this yet. Xo many people who used to make good money, paid their taxes for years till they lost their jobs. Now they struggle to make living and has no money to pay tax. Govt get less $ from people nowdays than before. I have seen my son who make 35 hours and paid alot of taxes for 10 years now he is out of job and been looking for job since March to now. It is Government' loss because Govt can not get one dime out of from my son any more. It is everywhere. I still see unemployment checks goes to so many people I deliver. It was not alike when I first started this job 5 or 6 years ago. Rich people still making damn alot of money and they should help our government and our country.

If Warren Buffet is in full support and calling for more tax increases on the rich... :hmm:

I am with Jiro...time to cut on wasteful spending. However, the problem is that it is subjective...what is wasteful may not be considered wasteful to another person. Can become a huge headache.

Buffett noted Monday that the mega-rich pay income taxes at a rate of 15 percent on most investment income but practically nothing in payroll taxes. The middle class, meanwhile, typically falls into the 15 percent and 25 percent income tax brackets and is hit with heavy payroll taxes. He said Washington legislators "feel compelled to protect us, much as if we were spotted owls or some other endangered species."

Buffett said he knows many of the mega-rich well, and most wouldn't mind paying more in taxes, especially when so many fellow citizens are suffering. He also said he has yet to see anyone shy away from investments because of tax rates on potential gains, even when rates were much higher in the mid-1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

"People invest to make money, and potential taxes have never scared them off," he said.

we can use common sense approach instead of bickering over complex issues.

for ie - it does not make sense to hire private defense contractors to escort our diplomats in Iraq when we have already have our own military to do the same job for a fraction of the cost.

Another one - cut down wasteful spending on law enforcement duties especially for very petty marijuana charges such as a joint. Just issue them citations and let them go. I can't imagine how much billions of dollars we'd save from this.

Our defense budget needs to be trimmed down but do not touch GI benefits.

How do you classify "rich?"

Since many of the "low" classes pay no taxes at all, 20% of 0 equals 0, so 0 plus 0 equals 0. That sounds like a good deal for the rich people.

I consider myself middle class, and I pay about 30% taxes, so you can figure out how much more the rich would pay.

My thoughts? I think that you need to do a little more analysis and math for your proposal.

Did you see on tonight's news about the plan to change military retirement? They want to make it more like SS, that military people can't collect until retirement age, like 65.

I guess they forgot that military people vote, too.

Oh, well.

Taxing the rich more will not solve the problems. For one thing, I don't think that there are enough rich(whatever rich means)folks and that is the least of the reasons not to tax them disproportionately.....

What do you think about Warren's claims that his tax rate was much lower than yours?

"The philanthropist said that his federal tax rate was 17.4% in 2010, and that some investment managers were taxed only 15% on billions of dollars in income. He compared that to the middle class, with its income tax bracket of up to 25%."

Warren Buffett to Congress: Don't 'coddle' me - chicagotribune.com

Edit: Adding more information to explain why his is so low:

Why Buffett only pays 17.4% of his income in federal taxes: "Last year my federal tax bill ... was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4 percent of my taxable income -- and that's actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33 percent to 41 percent and averaged 36 percent."

Unlike most Americans, Buffett and the country's wealthiest taxpayers make much of their income from investments. The capital gains and dividends those investments generate are taxed at a much lower rate than wages. Long-term capital gains and dividends are currently taxed at 15% -- well below the 35% top income tax rate.

One thought I had was, with all these towns and states having a sales tax "holiday" for parents to buy the kids school supplies, and knowing that schools are running so low on money. Why can't they, instead of saving the parents from having to pay the sales tax, just apply the sales tax from that weekend to the education budget? Have it broken down by county, and send the money from each county to that county's school district.

Maybe I am missing something, but it was just a thought.

I'm sick of this boo hoo'ing high taxes for rich people. And this ridiculous, many-times disproven notion that if rich people have more money, it will create more jobs and trickle down to the rest of us. Whatever . . . whatfuckingever! Biggest load of garbage ever, and if you believe it, you're an idiot.

TAX THE SHIT OUT OF THEM.

Rich people have been enjoying a little vacation from their civic and humanitarian duties since Bush was in office. Time to get back to historically normal tax brackets for them. It might not solve any problems, but it sure is going to help.

And if the masses were smart enough to understand just how much UNEARNED money rich people make off the stock market, especially using dirty tricks like selling short and market manipulation that usually leaves small-time investors robbed . . . well, they'd go ape shit.
