I just asked my good deaf friend ( ex bf and 20 years friend) to permission about what happen! That I would like tell a some story here with all of you… He said sure! :)

*** change names*** my Deaf friend name is chef man...

Chef man is working for two jobs. Somehow, His second job gets slowly and has hard time budget. His mom was to generously help him to find a roommate. She was typing adverted at Craiglist for Find a roommate. Two weeks ago, Man called my friend s mom and told that he was student lawyer and need a rent room.

He comes to my friend s house and immediately interesting to live with roommate. My friend and his mom strongly thought that trust him. Next day He paid half rent and did not sign anything papers for agreement to live yet.:dunno2:

However, the man kept take Chef man' s food, toilet paper and other. Chef man has his friends come over his place to watch sport TV. His friends asked him questions but seem not right and something fishy about him! :ugh3:He kept filthy at my friend s house. :eek2:He leaves his body and head’s hair all over the tub. He shaved his face and leave hair on the sink. He did not do clean at all.:squint: He always stayed at home all-day and everyday!

My friend comes home from work. He walked before into his house. He looked at outside his house’s electric meter does faster spins! Then found a man open the window at second floor and he was nude! so He went to into the home and upstairs. He felt so hot and warmer on second floor than first floor! :eek:My friend realized that the man turns heat up and heater control box was in his bedroom! My friend asked him that he is lawyer and must be busy working. He did not respond and nasty to my friend. :rl:Then my friend started pissed off and yelled at him that clean up, do not touch my foods and turn heat down to 69. My friend went to his office room and talked to the phone VP with his mom. He notices there flashing light by outside the window. He looked at the window and surprised that their police officers arrives his home!! :eek2: My friend opened the door and polices told that man was called police and complain that my friend stab a fork to his stomach! ... Police looked at his stomach and there none bled but three red spots! :squint: Police did not put handcuff my friend but has to go on ride with them to police station. My friend s mom came to police station and bailed him out! Grrrrr... Police told him that the man has R. O on my friend at his house! So Then He filled R. O out on him too. He immediately went to home and saw the man took coat on and went out.* went to police station** My friend went to shower then into the bed. My friend was so exhausted of what happen with his roommate. Chef man was sleep aaaahh and felt good..... one hour later....

His next door come and bangs his door that He woke up by felt it. He opens the door. Next-a door person told him Policemen here! They arrest and handcaft on my friend and went to Jail overnight!

Because of R. O, My friend explains to police that They re do not have any paper agreement for live and also He is owner the house and want him get out. Police ignored him :rifle: and put him in jail room  Somehow, His sister and mom help and explain to police about that. Another Police agreed that four police cars and His sister come to my friend s house. Told the man get out of house. Yayay... He refused but police force him out! Therefore, he took his clothes bring to his car slowly. Police told him hurry up until finally move out. His mom bailed him out again and immediately went to home. He changed all keys knots.

YUCK... All of you beware of those crazy people out there !!!

Ps. Sorry I am hurry up write this thread and excuse my messy grammar :giggle:!!

Careful ok !! After Crazy Man  moved out. he did some damage to my friend s room.

Yesterday.. My friend learned that he is not lawyer and was in mental hospital few years ago! EEEKK!!!

I would never get a roomate from Craig's list, it is very risky! It's better for your friend to get a roomate that he knows very well

I hate roommate but exception for some of best friends.

DVD, I bet you get crazy girl from craiglist and shredding all of DVD disc and make more damage to your property, lol.

A great roommate is someone you trust, can be mutual with, and communicable.

If they need a roommate (don't care about their personality, etc.), just need a roommate because of money will cause the problem.

Haha, I would sue her if she does that!

wow damn, cant believe what I did read ur "article" abt roommate, I better be careful with people/personality if I need to have roommate in my house but of course I wont post it on craigslist...

at least, I got two girls to hook up for together, but it didn't work out because one start complain that I'm too young for her. And another one decide go back with her ex-bf who abuse her. wtf?!

Phillips,
the same thing to happening with craigslist "babysitter" one woman lives with baby, but she found a list on website craigslist for babysitter. It is work, babysitter came to their house and watched a baby. She left her home.
Later time, she is back to home and saw her kid. It is not there. She was shock, the babysitter didnt let her know, where the babysitter is going with baby??
She called the police, while she is looking for her baby. few Hours, she found her baby at the shopping, so she said to babysitter and she will never something find from craigslist. too bad!!!

 eek!!

Tsk tsk I hate to admit that your friend made a huge mistake by letting a so called lawyer-roommate. The guy is very clever to file RO against your friend. Some people with mental illness are smarter than you think. That's so scary.

That's why I am steered away from needing any roommate even if I have money problems because I don't want any additional problems. Exception with two friends whom I don't mind rooming with because I know they are very responsible and reliable people. Unfortunately, they live in West Coast. I trust no one here in NJ.

Anyway, next time, if your friend needs a roommate, he MUST have any lease agreement, in WRITING. NEVER ORALLY because police is very interested in a hard evidence. That's why cops arrested your friend because of that. The guy with mental illness is very clever to take advantage of your friend because of oral agreement. Oral agreement is nothing. Your friend must check the work history/references and valid information from potential roommate(s) before taking him or her in. Even check his/her SS and any criminal record, etc. Your friend may consider about suing a guy for property damages.

If your friend has money issues, I think he'd better off living with his mother for a while until he has a steady job. IMO.

psst.. He is owner house for 10 years and His mom own her house too... so just happen bad budget but he is okay now cuz got another job :D will do with he MUST have any lease agreement, in WRITING. NEVER ORALLY

Thanks

why blame only craigslist?

there are plenty of crazy people who respond to roomate wanted ads, even in newspapers.

craigslist is a great site for free advertising and a better alternative than ebay right now for trying to sell your stuff such as cars, etc.

yep, right! craigslist have some very good thing, but how we can trust on craigslist?
when I was looking for the used car. I saw on craigslist, someone put on sale car, i was like :-o "2001 Audi Quattro and 69,000miles, leather seat, clean, beautiful color grey. It cost $4.000, but this Audi Quattro should be on the shipping" that means, sale person doesn't have time for meet on person (customer), if one interested for Audi and have to send a money to the sale man, then they will send a car to customer.
I had have been to contact with them. He asked me, Please give me your name, Address, bank account, because he have no time for meet on persons, He is traveler job. It must be laugh, I know sale man wanna $$$$, that they want to get a money and wont send a use car Audi. *ummm* It will be smart, but one good thing responsibility from Craigslist made remove this issue Audi Quattro. :deal:
please be carefully buy for use car, if someone ask ya all for name, address and bank account. Never put fast on this in your truth respond, better more deep discussion. ya all would be realize, what he like same thing "name, address, bank etc.." send you, again send you, again send you.

interesting... I never really want to find a roommate not now cuz of bad timing and all so it's good enough to stay with family cuz you don't have to worry about paying bills and etc but one day I'm sure I will move out when I'm ready but for now... I'm taking my time and I never will want to find roommate thru internet.. forget it.. it's the best that you find a friend that you trust 100% that will not cause trouble or problems for you or others.. :)

They remove it because it's too good to be true ($4,000 for a 2001 Audi) It should be around like $9,000 or whatever

ok i will staying away from that website

Hey moonflower,
you don't need scare. I recommend you can more to learn about craigslist. You would be get more experience of yourself. True, Craigslist do have some good thing "free", "garage sale" and "cars" etc...
If you will back off from this website. Too bad! You has haven't get more learn. okidoki!!! :)

When getting a roommate for your own place (not in the college dorms), it should always be someone you know or someone you're friends with.
