I want to share with you all what was going on at the SSDI office and Medicaid insurance...

I went there yesterday morning...boy, I was having a bad day bez of ssdi situation...

I went to reception (front desk) and asked if I could meet with my caseworker...she asked me what I was here for...I explained that I needed to prove it to my case worker that I just discovered that I have cancer and need SSDI money to increase from $633.00...there is no way I could survive bez of cancer situation...

She declined it...she said I can not meet with my case worker...and there is no way they will not increase the money for me...:pissed:

And...I told her that the medicaid wasnt paying for the cancer care clinic...and for me to apply for medicare plan B...she declined it again...she said I must apply next year in Jan to March of 2006...

She also said I must pay prepaid for medicare before I apply in Jan...

I was very depressed about it...I couldnt cry or scream to myself about this...this is so frustrating for me bez of cancer..

I told the lady at front desk that I was told that the deaf man who has knee injury who couldnt work...he gets $1,000 a month for it..and I get only $633.00!!!! I told her I can not work...

People dont understand my health condition...I get tired very easy...I am fighting to stay off the bed...it is hard...bec of depression and cancer....

I was forced not to work bez doctor doesnt want me to get any pressure...or stressed...I must take it easy...sigh!

I prefer to work...stay out of the house...but it is out of my hands right now...I m not lazy person...I dont want to stay on ssdi forever..I hate it...just got no choice! :(

I'm fine right now..I have my family support....and trust that God will give me strength everyday..I just gonna have to trust in Him to meet all of my needs. :)

Hello Color,

I have SSI/RSDI with medicare and state medicaid..

Okay here is..

My state medicaid pays SSA medicare premiums. plus my state grant funds, totalling of nearly 711.00 a month..

My apt rent very cheap, it's a handicapped faculty units by HUD/Federal Housing Agency, (lot of wheelchair and disabled residents live in my apt bldg includes a several deaf residents too)

You should call your county caseworker, they would helps to pay medicare premiums if you're eligible on medicaid services.

Ravensteve, as a fellow ADer, I can only ask you politely to give support to your fellow ADers when they post their threads especially when they are going through difficult periods of their life. Coloravalanche is venting out frustrations and you are not helping this out at all by tossing in a silly suggestion. An old motto goes as "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!!"

coloravalance- I genuinely hope things goes out in your favour soon! Think positive thoughts!!

Hi, sorry to hear your situation. Actually SSDI have nothing to do with Medicaid. BUT, it is not end of the line! You might easily qualified for medicaid, that is... if you go STRAIGHT to your state department of welfare. They are completely seperated from SSA system. I know application process can be dragging and time consuming. But in your situation there are excellent chance you might get assistance down there. The trick with your local medicaid system is that they will figure out how much you have to shell out before they will help, but since your income is LIKELY to be way below their thresold cut off. Here, the income cut off is around 820 dollars. So, suppose I get 900 dollars, then I will have to pay 80 dollars of "Qualified medical expense" before they will kick in support.

I know gov't games too well, VR might help but it would be referrals. Not much they can do beyond the referrals.

cut off craps of yours! I see you don't even had clue what freedom of speech is all about!!! Freedom of speech is really about your rights to say whatever against or for your government NOT against a citizen who is suffering! I can't believe you, RS snoop this way ULTRA-LOW!!!!

No one has freedom of speech here at AD. If we all had freedom of speech i wouldnt been banned from vampy.

See some of the rules are confusing here. Like roadrunner said "Profanity is not against the rules"",But on the other hand you cant use profanity when name calling ? go figure.

Cancer and $$$

What would you do if you were a HEARING person? There are other people out there who are NOT deaf and have cancer and cannot work. What do THEY do??

I am getting tired of deafies who feel that they are entitled.

I am receiving SSDI, medicaid, and food stamp only for $15...The problem is the cancer care clinic sent me two bills saying the medicaid wont pay for it...only medicare plan B...grr...

Thanks for your suggestion that I should go straight to the state dept of welfare...I will do that next week. Keep you posted. :)

I know one thing...when hearing people who are out of work...they are either receiving ssi or unemployment or vacation pay or early retirement while their spouse go to work...

:( Oh Coloravalanche!! I am so very sorry to hear about your cancer. I will pray really hard for you that your recovery will be soon. This has to be such a frustrating thing. Here you are dealing with health issues, and at the same time having a hard time getting the doctor's bills paid, and then on top of that having a receptionist that has no compassion, and you had to wonder how she got that job in the first place.

I was going to suggest Voc. Rehab myself, or even an Independent Living program and talk to a case worker who maybe able to help you with your doctor's bills.

I am sorry also that you are being put through some horrible heckling by a person who has no idea what it means to have to go through what you are going through.

I wish you well, dearheart, and please keep up that sense of humor!! You are so strong to go through what you are dealing with, and yet have the knack to make people laugh!!

God Bless You, Coloravalanche!!!!

FYI Medicaid sometimes pay for Medicare premium and covers 20% of co-pay. So, won't hurt to ask to see if medicaid is willing to work with Medicare. hard to tell cause it depends on where you live, each medicaid office have their own rules.

Thanks for your support and prayer. Unfortunately, there is no cure for it. I have chronic lymphotic leukemia cancer...its forever...dont know how long I will live...but...all I will get is treatment to keep white cells not to go up high..right now, my white cells shows that I have 40.5...

If it goes higher, I will start with treatment...if treatment doesnt work then chemo...

I pray that I will live longer...and fight to get my strength and energy back.

:grouphug: Oh this is awful, Coloravalanche!!! I will pray along with you that you will live for many years to come. Why is it nice people like you end up getting sick like this? Please keep me posted as to how you are doing? Don't give up, keep a positive attitude, and take everything one day at a time so you can enjoy it and make it memorable.

All my best to you, God be with you each and every day!!!

I am so truly sorry you are going through this!!
