At my sisters graduation party, my boyfriends friend introduced us to his new girlfriend & the whole 20 mins. we all spent talking together, she spent screaming in my boyfriends face. I reminded her numerous times that she didn't need to yell, just to speak slowy, clearly, & make eye contact but she proceeded to yell & make a complete dumbass of herself. Honestly how uneducated can you get? I mean all she needed to do was use common sense.

yeah and I pretend to play along and play dumb and it works cuz I never really answer anyone's question if they ask me if I am deaf.. *scoffs* but next time just tell them to write down on paper if u don't understand if they don't want to invovle you.. then u have right to leave the party to make them gulp :)

when someone does that I just quietly reply - I am deaf I am however not dumb as you are.

And they can't seem to grasp the fact that the louder they yell, the harder they are to understand! People kill me sometimes!

That person thinks that screaming is gonna make your boyfriend hear, Wouldn't it be a miracle? :giggle:

Ha yes...or the more they exaggerate every word they say, being stupid must be tiring lol.

I had a woman continue yelling at me, I was blunt with her, and said, "You're making me more deafer than I already was" That put an end to her yelling. :giggle:

Yes well some people just don't understand until you are blunt, but if that ever happend to me I would probably blow up I have no patience for ignorant people.
=)

Some people do that to me because they don't quite understand deafness, no matter what you say to them.

One time, this guy was talking very loud and slowly to me. I opened the door and he said, "HEL-LO! THANK YOU VE-RY MUCH!" I talked back to him like a normal guy, "You're welcome." I also told him that he didn't have to do that since I could hear him very well. He then replied, "O-KAY! HAVE A NICE DAY!" in a slow manner... again. Argh!

Yes I know exactly what you mean...I don't understand why they don't understand but I guess it's human nature...hmmm maybe not that I can't seem to be able to find the right word or phrase.

Not familiar with it. Is it good? I've got a friend that works at Blockbuster--he shares his free rentals with me!

It's very good movie, Sara Jessica Parker & Claire Daines are in it. But the reason why I was asking is because there's a few scenes in the movie where Sara Jessica Parker is talking (yelling, actually) to one of the deaf family members...& it's just really funny.

did it occur to you that maybe the guy talks like that all the time? don't you suppose he gets tired of people telling him they're not deaf? ;)
