Anyway, if you all haven't heard, the government has established
a policy to halt the Closed Captioning of shows they consider
is non-educational, which means about 75 percent of
TV programming will soon be NON-caption!!!
How are deaf and hard of hearing kids going to have access to communication if this happens? And how are we going to
continue to enjoy television? Wanna go back to the
stone age of non captioned TV of the pre 90's era?
If not, please click the link below to help stop our government
from doing this!!!

(Please forward this to everyone you know)

After you read Censor 'Scooby-Doo'? Words fail

Then consider signing the petition to lobby the Congress
to change the policy!!

To: US Government
President Bush is going to censor our TV, mostly to deaf viewers. They will approve captions for deaf viewers if they watch news or educational programs. I do not agree with that.. We should be free to see whatever we want to on TV and We shouldn't do anything to Captioning, otherwise the handicaped people who do use the captions will miss out and know what exactly is happening.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

If you are the US President, would you rather
spending money for deaf captioning rather
than wasting fortune e.g. toward the spaceship
going to the Mars ?

yeah, censored all uneducation tv show. We can always watch movie which more fun. :)

All tv show are full of lack. :scatter:

Umm... where did you hear that they will shut down 75% of the captioning?

If the goverment peeps had hearing loss, they wouldn't be so eager to get rid of captioning!

If they re going to cut down captioning, why not cut down voices as well? It's not fair to us. Look like the past is coming back to haunt us & make us suffer all over again! Watching TV is educational and it's like they are taking our education away. It's not right! :fu2: damn you, Bush!

Doesn't make sense..
which it strong word... how come united states are the most favor useful of ADA which is the strong case and cannot removed as consdier the close caption.?
If you want to look into the ADA rights under the agenda ? Would be benefitical to useful attach with ADA laws.. I wish I could knew more within fully the information from united states.. perhaps i'm from canada though...

Do you want comply it ?

Some of you think Bush is an awesome President what did I Tell you... Now he wants to cut down Close caption. Now how do u feel about President Bush? Nobody wants to listen nobody wants to see the truth how our President is. But your choice Who u want to vote. I hope Bush see this... No, I don't want Bush wasting fortune e.g. toward the spaceship
going to the Mars! But Like I said he always make the dumb move. :(

Y,

I wonder if all candidates will do the same thing when once become President ? Is there a single black President before? If, not.. then, they will not accept deaf President, will they ? Is that discrimination in the eye of all deafies ? I just wonder ...

Anyone actually read that article from PalmBeachPost.com?

Why do you point at Bush instead Bush Aministration who did it?

The Bush administration has decided that people with bad hearing have bad judgment, too, and need special guidance from the federal government.

The department made its decisions based on the recommendations of a five-member panel. Who the five members are, only the government seems to know, and it isn't saying. But the shows they censored suggest a perspective that is Talibanesque.

The government (who government? It's not Bush, either) is refusing to caption Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, apparently fearing that the deaf would fall prey to witchcraft if they viewed the classic sitcoms.

It's so sadly to see both of you show pre-judge about George Bush Jr.

Why point the finger at Bush? He's not the one with all the power in his hands.

Instead, the People should be knocked to their senses. We have the power to change that decision.

No one has really pointed out where this information was stated. I'd rather see a real article about this before complaining about this issue.

If this really happen then I'm gonna sue them.

It was already stated as a law that CC should appear on almost every TV show, no matter how apporiate or inappoarite it is, we are still part of the audience and whoever said is goin to discontinue CC is violating our rights and the way to watch Entertainment...so if that what they are really planning to do, then I, as an deaf American citizen, do have the right to sue them and tell them they were disrepecting the deaf and hard of hearing people and are left out of the audience just because it's inapporiate and hearing people just get to stay in? Now that is very wrong and stupid.

Who's with me on this?

So many people are shallow and ignorant, it's pitiful that Bush is one of them.
