Shooting at Colorado high school

Well, I for one, don't think children should be indoctrinated in any kind of 'sexual orientation" program in public schools. That is an adult topic, much like pornography. It's funny that you would consider my views to be bullying since you know I am a Christian.

So what about it? how about the censorship and the bullying of Christians?

Most children don't know about sexual orientation until they getting into middle school or high school. You are incorrect about compare sexual orientation to pornography. The sexual orientation MEANS straight (heterosexual), gay (homosexual), bisexual, lesbian (homosexual). If children come from same sex parenting so they will know about sexual orientation.

How I would consider your view as bully and I know you ARE NOT bullying me because you didn't threat, intimidate or abuse me. You are just debating with me, that it. I don't see you as bullying at me.

I'm Christian too - I raised as southern baptist, influenced by my grandmother. I don't agree with some of southern baptist's philosophy. I don't go to any church because I can't find any baptist churches that fit my view, but methodist church is optional for me if I want go there.

I don't agree about religious censorship and not tolerate about bully students due to religious view, especially Christianity, but if they choose to bully LGBT students because of religious view, so that's very unacceptable. If atheist punks bully Christians, so that's unacceptable too.

Bullying usually involve offensive statement, harassment with threat, intimidate, abuse so you didn't threat, intimidate or abuse me so you are not bullying me. See definition of bullying.
Bullying - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If Christians disagree with gay marriage is NOT bullying.

I do not believe I have ever bullied anyone while I attended school. However, I have been the target of bullies, namely because I was a) hearing impaired and b) the son of a Baptist preacher who had attended very rigorous and strict private schools before entering the public school system.

So yeah, I stood out, and I was a little bit further along educationally than my peers when I entered public schools. I was well versed, and well read. I was also, I think, far more polite. The bullies were relentless. I nearly had a nervous breakdown. Kids can be mean. The public educators had mistaken me for someone who was "slow", or someone who was not paying attention in class (due to my hearing impairment, but had perfect speech).

I had a huge target placed on me that was non-existent when I attended private schools. Of course, there are bullies in private schools too ... but they are immediately weeded out and confronted - especially when parents are paying a lot of money to have their little angels attend.

I never once thought of coming to school and attacking those who persecuted me. I simply kicked their ass when cornered by them and that was the end of that. Some even tried to become my friend afterwards ....

Something a whole lot of people don't realize about bullies. They have to always be right, and they have to always be in charge. They crumble when challenged and most start bawling like babies when someone actually stands up to them. that is why this guy who went on a shooting spree was a bully IMO - his "status" was challenged, he felt slighted and wronged, and instead of going through the proper channels at getting this conflict resolved, he took matters in his own hands, just like a bully.

Do you see my post above?

Are you raised as southern baptist?

I was extremely hesitate about claim myself as southern baptist because they got some bad reputation, especially slavery and racism, but they issued apology about situation in past. I know they are very anti-LGBT, but I know some families with southern baptist started accept LGBT after they realize that their child is gay and reparative therapy doesn't work, so it could put southern church's position in difficult and it is up to pastors, or churches to kick them out. Today, southern baptist is becoming more evangelical, or fundamentalist, so I classified myself as mainline. I'm not scared to come out about my original religion after my English professor discussed with me, also I quoted from bible book on my rhetorical analysis essay about MLK's Letter from Birmingham Jail and it is about the God love everyone, regardless on statuses.

Did you threat, intimidate or abuse anyone? If not then you didn't bullying and I don't think that I bullied someone, but I did picked on some students for just fun during my teenager era.

Different between public school and private school, public school have to accept all students, so expulsion is more difficult, but private school only accept specified students so they could kick bad students out.

Foxrac, no, I was not raised a Southern Baptist. My father was a Fundamental Independent Baptist preacher and attended the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri (the same one Brad Pitt attended to become a missionary before he went into acting). He is no longer active in the church and no longer a preacher. He is still an ordained minister.

By Fundamental, this means that the Bible was taught as literal truth. It does not mean he is another Fred Phelps. By independent, it means that the church was not affiliated, or connected, with any other Baptist group. It was simply a Bible teaching church that welcomed everybody. We had a school, a softball team, a basketball team, etc.

I do not care what reputation any denomination of any religion has, I seldom base an opinion on an individual by what religion, or non religion they believe. That is how bullying starts. ;)

"Thou shalt not judge, lest thou be judged ..."

It is interesting about the Southern Baptists, and slavery though. Did you know that Baptists during colonial America were very much anti-slavery? The State of Georgia, for the first two decades it was a British Colony, abolished slavery based on Christian fundamental beliefs of free will? Also, it was a Baptist minister that led a slave revolt in Jamaica which ended up causing England to abolish slavery forever (Samuel Sharpe) ... And a Baptist minister in America that helped to end segregation (MLK).

The split in the denomination was caused by the Civil War. And the Southerners believed that slavery had been condoned by the Bible.

edit: To answer your question, no, I never threatened anyone or intimidated anyone. I did, however, stick up for myself when someone was threatening or intimidating me. They were always surprised that this little skinny mild mannered and polite kid had a backbone when cornered. One bully would wait at my locker every morning with two of his friends and tried to block me from getting my books. He would sneer, and mock me for being hearing impaired. I didn't strike him, but he suddenly realized I was no weakling when he discovered I could pick him up and move him out of the way with very little effort (my dad made me work during the summers at his construction company, I had to lift heavy equipment all the time - i was very thin and wiry, but very strong).

Oh I found an interesting about independent baptist, so I feel that I'm more independent baptist because I don't agree with SBC so don't want affiliate with them. Most baptist churches in southern states are affiliated with SBC and difficult to find one that isn't affiliate with SBC, especially for independent baptists. I found weird definition from bad website about independent baptists as completely conservative (much conservative than SBC), so thanks for give a true definition of independent baptist.

I don't see Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church are true baptist and baptists don't condone any picketing at funeral home.

I found methodist churches are religiously liberal, that's not same as political and most methodists in my state are politically conservative or independent, and small numbers are liberal. There is one thing that I don't agree with methodist church, is infant baptism and I never been baptized. I believe that baptism should reserved for late childhood, especially teens or adults.

I believe that divorce is greatest threat to society than gay marriage, and you know that I'm bisexual and the reparative therapy didn't work for me. I support gay rights, but I encourage gay and lesbian people to respect people who disagree about gay marriage, instead of bullying or teasing. I don't see gay rights as factor in church and we should stop being obsessed about gay rights.

I use my libertarian view about balance between religion and gay rights, so I don't believe that government should endorse any religions, that what original constitution interpreted - First Amendment.

Thank you for history lesson about Georgia and yes, you are correct about MLK, as baptist pastor that ended the segregation.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

FYI: True bullying must involve threat, intimidate or abuse.

There is good example below.

Josh: I'm against on gay marriage because of my religious view.

That's not bullying. There are gay people could feel that is homophobia and they should learn to ignore, or respect them because you can't change their view.

Josh: I hate gay people and if you don't change your sexual orientation so I'm going beat you up.

That's bullying.

See 2 difference?

Oh wow, I was bullied because of my deafness too, that's very sad.

Thank you Foxrac, and I completely 100% agree with your interpretation of what bullying is.

Sad update:

"LITTLETON, COLO. – A suburban Denver high school student who was shot in the head by a classmate has died, hospital officials said in a statement Saturday.

Claire Davis, 17, was in critical condition after being shot at point-blank range at Arapahoe High School on Dec. 13. Friends and well-wishers had posted prayers online and raised money to help pay for her medical care.

Karl Pierson, 18, shot Davis, who just happened to be sitting nearby with a friend as Pierson, armed with a shotgun, ammunition strapped to his body, Molotov cocktails and a machete, entered the school and headed toward the library. Davis appeared to be a random target, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson has said…."

I just heard this on TV today and I started to cry and get so angry that another student had dies from a senseless violent crime. Something has to be done to keep guns away from the wrong people.

Ban the guns! Ban the guns!!

Only way to do that is to tell our legislature and Senators in the government whether in your home state or in Congress in D.C.

I would like to see the end of guns where people are not going to go crazy and outballistic just in the name of being a bully to do what he or she want to hurt or kill people with. Those bullies (with guns) are not that smart at all and need to be put into the mental hospitals instead of jails. This is my opinion or my thought. I am just sad. I don't like it when I see that happen to innocent people. :(
