Police respond to reports of a shooting at Colo. high school
Published December 13, 2013 | FoxNews.com

DEVELOPING: Police were responding Friday to a report of a shooting at a Colorado high school.

Fox 31 Denver reported two persons were injured during the incident at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, about 13 miles south of Denver. The school has about 2,000 students.

The Denver Post said students leaving the school said one student shot two others in the cafeteria but this could not immediately be confirmed.

Video shot from helicopters showed students leaving the building in orderly fashion, with their hands raised. They were then frisked by security officers before moving on.

The school is about 8 miles east of Columbine High School in Littleton, where two teenage shooters killed 12 classmates and a teacher before killing themselves in 1999.

 oh dear oh dear

They are now saying that the shooter died of self-inflicted wound.

One victim severely wounded, another lightly wounded.

I don't know what to say...just sick sick people out there.

What is wrong with deranged students who had the nerve to bring guns to schools and threatened to hurt or kill students and teachers? This school was not the only one but almost all over USA, too. I agree with Shel90. That is terrible. :(

Didn't Colorado just pass some very tough gun laws?

Sure, they did but their gun law is more lax than California, NY, NJ, CT, IL and other several states.

Having a tough law will not prevent the school shooting, though.

Is there just something about the Denver area that causes this...?

My thoughts are with the families this evening. :(

Now, it is called the triangle...Columbine, Aurora theater and this. My cousin's apt is right in the middle.

I have a family member who teaches at another school just eight miles from this latest shooting. :(

Columbine, I understand, is the same distance away but maybe in another direction....

That cousin and her sister were students at a nearby elementary school just a few blocks from Columbine when the shootings there happened.

'My son is mentally ill,' so listen up - CNN.com

so when are we going to start focusing on mental health laws instead of tougher gun laws?
I wonder if school needs hiring the good counselor and professional for any children with mental issues. I guess they all need to see each of kids one time per weekly. I guess?

too many small kids and when they enter middle school or high school then they blow up themselves.

I am not saying all gun owners are crazy but there are a lot that have mental issues of some sort. PTSD being a big group right off. If someone anyone attempts to disarm that group it will be - well it just isn't going to happen.
It sounds good but once you get in there it becomes where does it stop?

I agree that there are mentally ill who should not have guns. It is the system we have that would lurch into action on the subject that would turn it into a nightmare. I am curious beyond saying we should do something.

I certainly think we should do something. First and foremost, I would start by eliminating mass killing zones (aka gun free zones) or the problem will continue to escalate. Is it apparent yet?
